|Behind the Scenes|
The Pond Skater is a extinct species that once lived on PNF-404.
According to fossil studies, the Pond Skater was a semi-aquatic creature capable of skidding along the top of calm water, and also able to fly with simple insect-like wings. They are commonly found in small ponds and Stillwater marshes.
The Pond Skater is considered the ancestor to more advanced members of the Skitterling family. According to findings of the fossils, some groups of Pond Skaters went further inland, and adapted more to ground living and dry land. These individuals lost their wings and ability to skid along water overtime, favoring instead to mimicking leaves. These individuals evolved into the Skitter Leaf and ore advanced Desiccated Skitter Leaf.
Those groups that remained within water with habitats that remain aquatic evolved into more advanced pond skaters such as the Skeeterskate.
