Plutonians, a.k.a. Bat-Men, are a sapient species from the dwarf planet Pluto.
Biology[]
Plutonians are winged bat-like creatures with clawed feet and bodies covered in dense fur to protect them from the cold. They grow up to between 3 and 4 ft in height and live in closely knit groups which sleep close to each other for warmth. Their membranous wings are impervious to cold.
Plutonians don't actually fly, but launch themselves from high places and glide over long distances. Their diet is omnivorous, including small rodent-like animals, mosses and even some types of soil. They require very little food per day.
Culture and society[]
Modern Plutonians generally inhabit caves and other natural formations, and their technology is limited to small objects made out of stone or metal. In the past, however, their species was far more advanced, and some of their ancient technology is still operational, including automatic wells and heaters. Unfortunately, modern Plutonians have long lost the knowledge to maintain, repair and replicate their ancestors' machinery, meaning that anything that wears out is irreplaceable. For obvious reasons, Plutonians are very protective of their machines and will viciously attack anyone who comes near them. They are also known to cannibalize their dead.
Three fully operational underground cities still exist on Pluto, the largest of which is Profundo. Functional airships kept aloft by electromagnetic force are still existent and available for the Bat-Men to use.
