Petrosapiens are a race of crystalline humanoids from the planet Petropia.

Appearance

Petrosapiens are silicon-based lifeforms slightly taller than Humans with skin made from a green/blue diamond-like material. They, four=fingered hands, and toeless feet.

Male Petrosapiens have a spike on the back of their semi-cubic head and two to six additional ones on their back. Females, on the other hand, do not.

There are many different races of Petrosapiens, including Surface Petrosapiens and Subsapiens. Each one has their gem-like colors and shapes.

Surface Petrosapiens are shown to be lean and thin, with square bodies and limbs. Their sharp edges are chiselled like carefully crafted sculptures. Subsapiens are much larger and have wide bodies with thick limbs. Some Subsapiens have crystal growths on their foreheads resembling pompadours.

Powers/Abilities

While jewel-like in appearance, Petrosapiens are no pretty boys. Their crystalline bodies make these fearsome warriors incredibly resistant to most physical attacks. They themselves are physically enhanced due to their bodies.

Petrosapiens are able to shoot crystalline shards at rapid speed, turning a car into confetti in seconds. They can also alter their bodies into crude tools, including blades that cut through most materials.

Petrosapiens can manifest large, almost mountainous formations from either their projectiles, walls, or the ground itself and manipulate them under their control. They can even generate these formations, such as giant spikes, from their own bodies, as well as retract them. Combined with their increased strength, a Petrosapien's shredding appendages can be especially devastating.

Petrosapiens can regenerate, but to a certain extant. Once they break completely, no glue in this galaxy or the next can put a Petrosapien back together again.

Being living prisms, Petrosapiens can refract, absorb, and redirect light and beam-based weaponry, channeling them through their bodies and projecting them back at their source as beams blasts.

Since Petrosapiens are made out of organic crystals, they are immune to aging. Therefore, they are impervious to a Chronosapien's time rays, as diamonds do not age.

Due to the alterations Kevin Levin has made to the Antitrix, Crystalfist is more powerful than ordinary Petrosapiens. He can also shape any crystals he generates into anything he desires, such as tentacles.

Weakness

Petrosapiens are particularly vulnerable to sonic vibrations. While a stereo blast might cause them to splinter, certain ultra-high-pitched sound waves can cause them to shatter, including a Loboan's sonic howls and an Evolved Sonorosian's Sonic Disks.

The shards on a male Petrosapien's back can leave them stuck to a wall or on other surfaces that they get knocked into. Females do no have this weakness.

Since their bodies are made of diamond, Petrosapiens can sink in water.

There is limited extent in how much damage a Petrosapien's body can take before cracking or shattering.

Omnitrix Transformation

The Omnitrix's Petrosapien representative is named Diamondhead, who first appeared in the original series episode "And Then There Were 10". Diamondhead has appeared in every series.

The reboot version of Kevin 11 has a mutant hybrid equivalent of Diamondhead named Crystalfist, who first appeared in the episode "Franken Fight".

Diamondhead has also been used by the Prime Timeline Gwen and Kevin, the "What-If" Gwen 10, Ben 10,000, Race Against Time Ben, Albedo, Vilgax's Bioid army, Ultimate Ben, the canon Gwen 10, and Mad Ben.

Etymology

Petrosapien comes from petra (meaning rock) and sapien (meaning intelligent being).

Notes

  • A Petrosapien's diamond skin bears a resemblance to the Taydenite currency.
  • While the original Ben 10 continuity version of Petropia was destroyed by Vilgax before being restored by Diamondhead in the Alien Force episode "The Secret of Chromastone", the reboot version remains intact.
