The Pantheon of the Black Sun was the ruling class on the world of Tertiarus that hailed from another dimension.
History[]
Ages ago the pantheon was the ruling court of the magic planet Tertiarus. However a meteor from another galaxy crashed unto the planet, attracting the attention of the court who hurried to investigate. At the crash site they court found a crimson red crystal imbued with strange magical power. The crystal compelled the pantheon to them. Magus the leader of the pantheon believed the crystal to be a gift of the heavens and a sign of divine right for them to rule Tertiarus. No sooner did he say those words that the crystal empowered them with great cosmic powers.
The Pantheon of the Black Sun who had been called gods only in name, had become actual gods of their world. Feeling the incredible power, the Pantheon wanted to explore the depths of their abilities and truly rule their world. Though some like Alizarine called for caution as the crystal was unknown. In the end his words were unheard as the group them began to consolidate their reign.
Their reign over their fellow Tertiarians did not last, as Tertiarus was soon invaded by a powerful eldritch race known as the Kroach. Despite the power the Pantheon wielded they found themselves outmatch by the alien invaders. In order to appease the Kroach and to maintain their power, the Pantheon negotiated with the Kroach on a ceasefire, offering half their world. Thus half of the population, composed of the commoners of the planet were given to the Kroach while the aristocracy were unharmed.
The wizard Alizarine sought to undermine the Kroach and studied their biology, His intensive studies of the Kroach allowed him to create the unliving Deathless to serve as their first line of defense. However it was for naught as the other members of the Pantheon succumbed to the their lust for power and made a deal with the Kroach to be empowered by the invaders, corrupting them into new Kroach forms.
Alizarine and Princess Mercy only realized the corruption too late. In their escape from the palace, Mercy was killed, but not before Alizarine scattered her essence into various vessels through-out time on the distant world of Earth. Alizarine was infected by the Kroach, and managed to escape to the space between realms called the Void. Weaken, he was befriended by a native creature of the Void called Budgie who he recruited to help he seek Mercy.
Alizarine though would always arrive too late to save Mercy as the Kroaches agents would assassinate her. During his stay on Earth, Alizarine allied with other beings of supernatural origins to help combat the Kroach threat and search for Mercy.
