The Others, a.k.a. the Ancient Ones, are a sapient, technologically advanced spacefaring species which evolved on the planet Nuhlenony, an oceanic world located in a globular star cluster. At some point in the past, they abandoned their homeworld and traveled through the galaxy visiting several planets.

The Others were responsible for uplifting and/or bioengineering species such as the Hleno, the Jamyn Dragons, and the All-Purpose Pets, as well as creating the robotic Mentor race. They also visited Earth in the Pleistocene and relocated a number of Humans to the planet Izz. The Hleno, Izzian and Jamyn languages are all closely related variations of the Others' language, so similar to each other that speakers of one language can easily understand the others.

Biology[]

The Others are vaguely humanoid bipeds with four arms and three eyes, similar to their robotic creations, the Mentors. Like Humans, they have an internal skeleton of bone, and cry when they feel distressed. Their blood is greenish orange in color. They live for thousands of years.

History[]

Millions of years in the past, the Others were fishermen who inhabited the islands and coastal areas of their homeworld. Even then, despite the absence of advanced technology, they already realized that the stars they saw in the night sky were likely to be distant suns, thus anticipating the idea that these suns could also have worlds like their own, and these worlds could be inhabited by other beings, similar or dissimilar to them.

At some point, the Others developed advanced technology, including robots to help operate their factories and other machinery, and uplifted the Hleno species from marine ancestors. Unfortunately, the Others' technology had the unforeseen side effect of warming up the planet, causing the level of the oceans to rise until all land was engulfed. Ensuring that the Hleno would survive as long as the robots kept the food facilities running, the Others departed from their world to unknown destinations.
