The Ortolans are a race of stout bipedal sapient creatures indigenous to the ice planet Orto. Ortolans are capable of speaking the Galactic Basic Standard and have an average life expectancy of 71+ years.
Biology[]
With a long snout and equally long floppy ears, Ortolans have very acute hearing and an excellent sense of smell. They have a trunk-like nose and two black beady eyes. Besides having a toothed mouth, they also have orifices on all of their fingers and toes, used to absorb food. Ortolans are well known for their fondness of food. This is because they evolved on an ice planet, where food supplies are scarce. They consumed large quantities of food to create a warm layer of subcutaneous fat due to the cold temperatures of their home planet.
