The Novians are a species created by the deity Elios. Functionally, they are sentient stars.
Biology[]
Anatomy[]
Novians are humanoid in shape and are considerably smaller than most other sapient species. They come in one of several colors, those being yellow, red, green, blue, orange, white, and possibly others. Much like the stars they resemble, a Novian's color is linked to their size; red Novians are the largest, and white ones are the smallest.
Novians have fingerless, mitten-like hands, forcing them to rely on members of other species to manipulate objects.
The star-shaped protrusions on their heads are actually a form of hair, which has been stated to be "super fluffy". This hair can be arranged into a variety of styles but will always have five points.
A Novian's humanoid body is actually an inorganic shell containing their true body, which is composed of light and gases. Because of this, Novians do not exhibit outward signs of aging in the way most species do, although they still age.
Diet[]
Due to their nonconventional anatomy, Novians do not need to eat. They can, however, ingest biomass by absorbing it. Some of them enjoy doing so, and will rapidly ingest large quantities of food, particularly food considered to taste good. Because of this, it is possible that Novians have some form of taste buds.
Powers and abilities[]
As is usual for any spaceborne species, Novians are able to fly unaided. Within a planet's atmosphere, one can fly only a few feet above the ground without becoming tired. While in outer space, they are able to fly much farther.
Novians' shells are capable of emitting light. The color and intensity of this light depends on their emotions. A happy Novian will emit yellow light, for instance. At full brightness, this light is capable of illuminating a planet's atmosphere during its night period.
While this is yet to be shown, it has been suggested that Novians can grant wishes.
Weaknesses[]
Novians' shells are highly brittle. If a crack forms, its internal body will leak out, essentially bleeding. Occasionally, a Novian's own heat will burn its shell. As these shells are inorganic, damage done to them cannot heal.
If a Novian consumes too much matter, they will undergo a supernova-like process which may destroy them, and likely also a nearby planet.
Cultural significance[]
As the spawn of a creator deity, Novians naturally have a major role in the mythology of their native galaxy. Knowledge of their existence has seemingly spread to other galaxies as well, as the Capridavas have a fairy tale involving them.
