New God (E.V.I.L. Heroes)

New Gods are a race of energy-beings who masquerade as deities to more primitive worlds and also the source of the myth of superhumans.

Biology[]

New God (E.V.I.L. Heroes) 001 — True form of a New God

New Gods are actually non-corporeal energy-beings. They are parasitic in nature, once they possess a host, they endow that host with various superhuman might from, lightning fast speed, inhuman strength that could destroy moons, resilience, etc. The host's mind however is over taken by the alien intelligence, though on extremely rare occasions the host mind can subsume the alien, if the host has a strong will.

A New God's enhanced host is never the same as the others, some, being inhuman looking, possess scales, animals body parts, or unique colors. These appearances make sense as their previous activities on Earth raised the various myths and legends from various cultures.

When the host of a New God is killed, the essence of the New God still exists. It will make its way into space, and travel to the next habitable world, and find a new compatible host.

History[]

In the ancient past the New Gods, then at the time the Old Gods, came to Earth, and after acquiring human hosts, they displayed their superhuman powers to the primitive humans and were looked upon as gods. However their worship declined after the humans began to see what tyrants these so-called gods were. The ancient cultures rebelled upon them, and while they could not actually harm the New Gods, their efforts caused the New Gods to grow weary of Earth. Eventually they decided to leave Earth behind, and head out into space to seek other worlds where they could attain sufficient worshippers. Before the New Gods left Earth, they placed their host bodies in special chambers to preserve them through the ages for the day when the New Gods would one day return.

The New Gods found other worlds, with alien cultures which they subjugated and enslaved to worship them. However the same acts of rebellion occurred by the natives, which forced the New Gods to leave once more, finding another world to rule.

In 2019 the New Gods decided to returned to Earth, after having been expelled from their previous world where they ruled, wishing to reestablish their worship there. After repossessing their hosts that were buried in crypt, the New Gods began their attack upon the cities of Earth. The leader of the New Gods, Chaos, and Olympus attacked New York City, devastating it by destroying various buildings.

In London, the goddess Zyana went on a rampage destroying all she could see, before Chaos and Olympus joined her. In response the military planned to deploy missiles at the United Kingdom via a submarine in the North Atlantic Ocean. However it was intercepted by the sea god Atlas who used his telepathy to command the sea life to attack the war vessel.

Humanity still had yet to understand what exactly they were fight, with most far from the conflicted areas assuming it to be terrorist attacks. However those who had access to military intelligence knew the truth faster, such as Dr. Paul who then began to initiated a long forgotten superhuman program to combat these so-called gods. Project EVL or Project E.V.I.L.

By the time the news media were reporting the utter devastation, Washington D.C. was in flames along with many other cities around the globe. It was then officially confirmed by the public that they were being attacked by beings with superhuman powers.

The world’s militaries still continued to mount some sort of counterattack such as the U.S. Naval Base in San Diego but was later destroyed by Atlas and his sea creatures.

The New Gods having ran amok on Earth to terrorize the humans then gathered at the San Andreas Fault Line. Chaos using his flight and super strength plunged into the geological fault and with the combined powers of his compatriots caused a massive global earthquake.

Afterwards they convened at their base which was a temple in the Rocky Mountains. Chaos declared that the world was there a fauna and the humans their playthings. Olympus hoped they were done with the death and destruction, though Chaos corrected him that it was just the beginning.

The New Gods began to impose their will over the world, carving out territories for themselves across the globe. For Chaos, he selected the United States of America. Using his might he cowed the President of the United States to do his bidding, acting as his servant to force his own countrymen to build a giant statue of the New God. However dissatisfied with the progress of the statue, dragged the politician to the site to demand him to work his slaves faster. Chaos's disparaging remarks to the working class construction workers inspired a short rebellion, but they were all cut down after Chaos used his heat-ray to kill all of the save for the President.

Chaos and the other New Gods reconvened to decide what must be done to finally cow humanity back into worshipping them. Chaos in fact had a solution, which involved him smashing the moon, and allowing the debris to rain down upon Earth, killing millions. Afterwards humanity surrendered, save for a secret group known as Project E.V.I.L. that sought to create a team of superhumans to combat the New Gods.

After the experimental procedure to create the team was a success, the superhumans began to target the New Gods, starting with the vampire New God Night. The superhuman soldiers sustain a single casualty but managed to slay Night. Unfortunately the other gods sensed Night's death and soon became aware of someone trying to hunt them.

Before the gods could organize team were able to successfully hunt yet another New God, Kali…this time with no losses.

Chaos and Zyana eventually located the base of Project E.V.I.L. and coerced the leader of the operation to arrange for the superhumans into an ambush when they were sent to Egypt to kill Anubis. The heroes were forced to retreat but their escape was cut off when their plane was shot from the sky. The heroes survived though now faced Chaos and Atlas in their fury. The heroes would have been destroyed had it not been for Olympus who decided to defect on humanity’s side.

Olympus though only managed to save one of the heroes, the rest were captured. The New God and his human ally rushed to Project E.V.I.L. only to find ruins. The remaining heroes were brought to the New Gods base where they were met by the repentant general who betrayed them and their loved ones. The New Gods seeking to make sport of their prey decided to play with them by having them fight against them to the death.

Though this proved to be foolish as it allowed the heroes a chance to fight against their captors, where they managed to kill Atlas and allow their allies to escape. However their victory was short-lived as two of the remaining superhumans were killed by Chaos. The lone superhuman and her family were then pursued by the New Gods.

The general seeking to protect his family them scarified himself to drag Zyana to her death in a ravine. Anubis was left to deal with the fugitives and nearly killed them.

They were luckily saved by Olympus and the other superhuman who eviscerated the New God. The three then joined forces to confront Chaos. In the end Chaos was defeated by Olympus by speeding through the world carrying the mad god to their deaths when they were both were impaled together.

Though the New Gods were defeated, they were not dead as their essences were merely banished to space to seek other bodies to house their minds. The New Gods relocated to a nearby planet where civilization was young and thus welcomed by the primitive culture, who were developing their spiritual beliefs. There the New Gods ruled anew content with a population that accepted them for now.

The New Gods are power-hungry beings intent of being worshiped as gods, willing to commit various atrocities to achieve their goals. According to Chaos the New Gods have conquered thousands of worlds across the galaxy. Earth being special as it was the first world to rejected, twice.

Chaos[]

The leader of the New Gods who is a Superman analogue, with powers of invulnerability, flight, super strength, super speed and heat ray vision. His super strength is on planetary levels as he can tunnel through the Earth like clay or even shatter a moon with ease. Chaos can also vocalize his voice so it can be heard across the globe. Additionally he is immune to mind control and mental intrusions. A vain and narcistic god who views the world through might makes right, and enjoys using terror to maintain power.

Atlas[]

An aquatic fishman New God who is an Aquaman analogue. He wields a trident and has telepathy that allows him to control sea life and had limited power of aquakinesis.

Anubis[]

A jackal-heads New God, who inspired the myth of the Egyptian god of the dead. Based on the superhero motif of DC's Justice League he might be loosely on Doctor Fate. He wields a scimitar which he channels energy blasts and can summon winds.

Night[]

A giant humanoid bat based on DC's Batman. According to Project E.V.I.L.'s intelligence he may be the weakest among the New Gods as he carnage across the globe was limited. Night mostly uses his monstrous body to prey on his victims. And appears to be also susceptible to mind control.

Kali[]

A blue-skinned multi-armed woman who inspired the Hindu goddess of destruction. Based on the superhero motif of DC's Justice League she might be loosely based on Martian Manhunter. She is capable of transforming into a hulking demonic giant of herself and wields four blades.

Zyana[]

Zyana is a New God who inspired many Meso-American myths, she is based on Wonder Woman. She is skilled in martial combat of the shield and sword. A very sadistic goddess who revels in bloodshed. Additionally she has skills in genetic engineering, capable of creating an army of Doomsday-like creatures. Though her vessel appears to be still vulnerable to a normal human, as it could not withstand a fall from a mountain.

Olympus[]

A lightning speedster New God who may have inspired many Greek myths of Zeus or Hermes. He is based on the Flash and has powers of superspeed that break the sound barrier and lightning abilities. Of the New Gods Olympus held guilt of his actions of his atrocities committed on Earth. This was mostly due to his taking the body of a human actor who affected his morality. Olympus the betrayed his fellow New Gods in order to protect humanity from their tyranny.
