The Naeromathi (singular Naeromath) are a nomadic alien race who live aboard massive spacefaring Arks after their homeworlds were destroyed by the Architects. They dismantle planets and moons to build their spacecraft, which has earned them the epithet of Locusts.
Description[]
Anatomy[]
Naeromathi were probably originally an aquatic species. They resemble very large eels with thick, rounded midsections, somewhat like a plesiosaur. Naeromathi generally have dull brown or gray skin, which is heavily scarred in most specimens. The entire creature, cybernetics and all, is roughly the size of an elephant.
Cybernetics[]
All known Naeromathi have extensive cybernetics to augment their bodies or replace missing parts. The appearance and function of these cybernetics vary widely between individuals. Some Naeromathi use them simply for life support, while others use them to move on land or even as weapons.
Society & Culture[]
The Naeromathi are a nomadic race whose entire population lives aboard Arks, massive spaceships hundreds or thousands of kilometers across. If the Naeromathi ever had a central government, they certainly do not have one any longer, and each Ark functions as its own sovereign state. Arks that encounter each other are generally cooperative.
Naeromathi dismantle planets and moons to build new Arks. While they do not specifically target inhabited planets, they are willing to do so, and will engage in warfare if necessary to acquire a planet to break down. This practice gives them a fearsome reputation across the wider galaxy, whose residents generally give them a wide berth. Naeromathi Arks sometimes engage in diplomacy with galactic great powers such as the Essiel Hegemony, but almost never with any other species.
The one exception to the Naeromathi's aloof and selfish attitude is in regard to the Architects. When a Naeromathi Ark encounters an Architect, they will immediately attack it, dropping every other task - including other, ongoing battles - to do so, sometimes cooperating with species they had been fighting only moments earlier.
