Motios are a humanoid species created by the High Evolutionary to serve as Recorders, the scientific division of OrgoCorp. They appear to have been created on Counter-Earth, known as Halfworld to the galaxy at large.
Biology[]
Motios are humanoids with a mostly Human-like appearance. However, the sides of their scalps possess many bluish veins visible through their skin, and a ridge with the same bluish tint tracing a loose circle along the top of their scalps. Female Motios are known to have brighter veins than males. Motios also have white irises and black sclera. It is unknown if Motios were modified from animals, like other species created by the High Evolutionary, or if they were an entirely artificial creation.
Culture and society[]
Motios serve as the scientific division of OrgoCorp, an intergalactic bioengineering company founded by the High Evolutionary as a front for his extremely unethical illegal experiments. Motios under OrgoCorp are known as Recorders, collecting scientific data relating to the various OrgoCorp projects, especially the High Evolutionary's attempts of creating a "perfect" species from Earth animals. Male and female Recorders both wear tightly fitted white suits with long coats, and Recorders also have a cybernetic computer implanted on the sides of their heads, visibly protruding through their heads, allowing them to store and mentally access the data at any given time, with the computers remaining operational if removed, although removing the cybernetic would require killing the Recorder. Male Recorders have their cybernetic implanted on the right side of their heads, while female Recorders have it implanted on the left side.
History[]
Motios were created at an unknown date in the past by the High Evolutionary, an enigmatic alien geneticist who sought to create the "perfect species" out of lower lifeforms in order to create a utopia. In pursuit of his goals, the High Evolutionary had also created the Sovereign, Xeronians, Ani-Men, and more, with several races of the outer parts of the galaxy seeing the High Evolutionary as God. As the High Evolutionary's experiments were incredibly unethical, involving mass extermination of "failed" experiments, the High Evolutionary created a corporation known as OrgoCorp as a front for his operations, which he was the CEO of. By the early 21st century, OrgoCorp had been in operation for 300 years, and the Motios were serving as Recorders, the corporation's scientific division. Two Motios, a male named Theel and a female named Vim, were the High Evolutionary's personal Recorders, following him wherever he went. The Motios appear to have been created on Counter-Earth, a planet the High Evolutionary would model after 1980s Earth, as the High Evolutionary had visited Earth in the 1980s, being fascinated with human culture but disgusted by humanity's many flaws. To the rest of the galaxy, Counter-Earth was better known as Halfworld.
The High Evolutionary also recovered several animals from Earth, who he began modifying into sapient lifeforms. These modified animals were known as Halfworlders to the rest of the galaxy, and went through 88 batches of Halfworlders, who were all deemed failures for one reason or another and executed. Theel and Vim remained in the High Evolutionary's service during this time, and recorded all of his work with the various animals. Eventually, the 89th batch was created, consisting of a modified raccoon, otter, walrus, and rabbit. The raccoon, a young male known as 89P13, was an incredibly creative and intelligent subject, able to innovate new ideas, something the other subjects couldn't do. Despite this, Theel and Vim were very abusive and hostile towards the subjects, although the High Evolutionary pretended to act as a caring guardian for 89P13. Theel and Vim eventually helped create devices that could evolve animals into intelligent humanoids within seconds, which would eliminate the need for the torturous cybernetic and genetic operations used on the previous subject batches, but the devices had critical flaws that would render the evolved animals insane and feral, resulting in the subjects being executed.
Eventually, to the shock of the Motios and the High Evolutionary, 89P13 quickly figured out how to solve the problems with the evolution devices, and after applying the recommended changes, the device worked, creating docile, intelligent, humanoids out of the animals placed within, with these creatures being known as the Humanimals. The High Evolutionary then ordered 89P13 and the rest of Batch 89 to be executed, but 89P13 managed to escape, irreparably scarring the High Evolutionary's face in the process, but not before the High Evolutionary and his security guards killed the rest of Batch 89. In the years that followed, Theel and Vim remained in the High Evolutionary's service, as Counter-Earth was soon populated by the Humanimals. On Counter-Earth, the High Evolutionary's base of operations was the mobile Arête Laboratories, where the High Evolutionary worked alongside Theel, Vim, and many other Motios.
Years later, in 2026, the High Evolutionary discovered that 89P13, now known as Rocket, was active in deep space as a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. As such, he deployed a newly-created Sovereign, Adam Warlock, to retrieve Rocket. While Adam failed, he did manage to critically wound Rocket, and a cybernetic implant left in Rocket since his creation, known as a kill switch, rendered the Guardians unable to perform any lifesaving operations on him, lest it activate and kill him. When Adam reported back to the High Evolutionary, Theel and Vim stayed by the High Evolutionary's side, and the High Evolutionary quickly deduced that the Guardians would try to raid the Orgosphere, the headquarters of OrgoCorp, where the deactivation code for the kill switch was kept. As such, the High Evolutionary sent Theel to the Orgosphere to retrieve the code first, erasing it from the station's records.

Notes[]
- Halfworld/Counter-Earth, as presented in the film, is merely a planet somewhere in the galaxy molded to resemble Earth, not an actual counter-Earth.
