Monoformers (also known as Monoforms or Monos) are a subspecies of non-transforming Cybertronians from the planet Cybertron.
Biology[]
Anatomy[]
Monoformers share a similar biology to other Cybertronians, except they are unable to assume alternate modes due to lacking their transformation cogs.
Powers and abilities[]
Monoformers share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians except for transformation.
Culture and society[]
Monoformers that have made the choice to reject their alternate mode are politically represented by the Militant Monoform Movement.
Prejudice against Monoformers by other Cybertronians is known as "shapism".
History[]
Primax 1005.19 Gamma[]
Demus suffered such from an extreme aversion to transformation that he had his transformation cog and most of his kibble surgically removed and could become ill if he merely witnessed someone transforming. Along with fellow Monoformer Krok, he became a member of Triple M. Another known Monoformer was Ammo, an Autobot M.T.O. created to defend K'th Kinsere.
Shapism was supposed to have died out by the present day, though Ambulon noted that "shape-hate" crimes still happened when the Genericons Sonic and Boom claimed to be members of Triple M seeking asylum from the Decepticon Justice Division at Delphi. It was eventually discovered that the pair was lying.
Animated Movie Universe[]
After betraying the Primes and taking control of Iacon City, Sentinel Prime began removing the transformation cogs from newborn Cybertronians. Robbed of their ability to transform, these Monoformers were relegated to worthless positions mining Energon in order to pay off his debts to the Quintessons.
After rediscovering Alpha Trion on Cybertron's surface, Orion Pax, Elita-1, D-16, and B-127 gained transformation cogs implanted by the ancient warrior, restoring to them their innate transformation abilities. After confronting Sentinel on his betrayal, D-16 learned that Sentinel had taken Megatronus Prime's cog for himself. Upon the tyrant's defeat, D-16 claimed Megatronus's cog, further enhancing his power and completing his transformation into Megatron.
After Orion had been granted the Matrix of Leadership and was formatted into Optimus Prime, Energon began to freely flow across Cybertron, restoring the miners' transformation cogs.
Alternate history[]
Another notable Monoformer was the young Autobot Rubble, as his transformation cog had not yet imprinted on a suitable alternate mode. Regardless, he had a close relationship with his mentor Bumblebee, who taught him how to be an Autobot.

Notes[]
- IDW Transformers author James Roberts admitted that Monoformers were a cunning way to explain the presence of Action Masters in IDW's Hasbro Universe.[1]
- However, this is by no means a hard and fast rule, as several characters based on Action Masters were subsequently shown not to be Monoformers.
