The Mobians are humanoids that take the form of anthropomorphic animals that inhabit the planet Mobius. They are also identified with the animals they resemble.

Biology

Their biology varies wildly, but generally, Mobians have round heads and torsos, and skinny limbs, and human-like hands and feet. Of course, some may have thicker legs and arms, and also might be heavyset.

Reproduction

Their method of reproduction varies based on the animals they represent, which makes them seem like more of a collection of various species rather than one.

Abilities

Mobians occasionally have abilities that can be described as either magical or superhuman.

Notes

• They exist in various iterations of the Sonic franchise, including Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, the Sonic Boom TV series, the Archie Comics, the Sonic the Hedgehog TV series and Sonic Underground.
  • The word "Mobian" is never used in-game, though fans of the franchise still refer to them as such for distinction from other media.
• While in most continuities, Mobius is either a fictionized Earth, or a planet separate from Earth, in another dimension, in the Archie comics, it is actually Earth sometime in the future.
  • In the live action adaptation, Mobius is depicted as a planet in our own universe, rather than in another dimension.
• The exact definition of the word "Mobian" seems to vary. In general, it refers to any resident of Mobius, though in other cases it refers exclusively to the different species of anthropomorphic animals.
• In the Archie comics, the Mobians have the taxonomic name "Mobo sapiens". However, the credibility of this is faulty, as many of them clearly belong to distinct species. Not to mention that it's presented as one word in the comic, which is not how scientific names are presented.
  • In fact, Sonic himself (at least in Sonic the Comic) officially belongs to the species, "Erinaceus europaeus", the European hedgehog.
