Metro Man's species are a race that are similar in appearance and physiology to Kryptonians. Like Megamind's Species, they also come from the Glaupunk Quadrant, specifically a now-destroyed unnamed planet.
Biology[]
Metro Man's species are humanoids bearing a Human-like appearance, with a presumably omnivorous diet, and have powers comparable to those of Kryptonians, including super strength, flight, invulnerability, heat vision, and super speed, the difference being that it is unknown if they also require sunlight to fuel their powers, and they aren't known to have any true weaknesses. Metro Man claimed that copper drained his powers, but Megamind and Metro City news reporter Roxanne Ricci later discovered this to be a ruse. Males of this species are known to bear naturally muscular builds, even as babies, and are able to display at least the ability to fly as babies as well. Females of this species presumably also have naturally athletic physiques and the same set of powers. While their lifespan is unknown, they age into adulthood at the same rate as Humans. As babies, they need to drink a milk-like substance, and already seem to bear a mental capacity greater than Human babies. Other differences in internal physiology is unknown, and they are able to breathe Earth's atmosphere. Their DNA is able to override Human DNA, granting Humans their muscular structure and powers.
Culture and society[]
Little is known about the society of Metro Man's species. Their planet appears to have been quite wealthy, at least in relation to Megamind's planet. Based on the design of Metro Man's escape pod, the species' architecture and general technological aesthetic could have been comprised of sleek gold, white, and chrome components. Their clothing also appears to be based on a similar aesthetic, sometimes with an emblem of planets, such as one that bears a resemblance to Saturn. It is unknown if these designs are representatives of the species, or just of an upper class. Given how only one member of their species was saved from their impending doom, it is possible that little to no emphasis was put on space travel in their society, or that they became isolationists sometime before their destruction. Any relations with Megamind's species are unknown.
Technology[]
Metro Man's species were known to have achieved a fairly advanced level of technology, enough to create at least a single escape pod capable of ferrying a living baby over a vast expanse of space to Earth and escaping a black hole on its own power. This pod was equipped with various amenities, built for both luxury and functionality, which could have been representative of the species' technology. Their technology appeared unable to stop the black hole that consumed their planet, or evacuate most of their species.
History[]
Metro Man's species had lived in the Glaupunk Quadrant for some time, their planet being the next in the orbital period from Megamind's planet, and developed a technologically advanced society. However, a black hole appeared and destroyed the system. If either species was indirectly or directly responsible we may never know. It could have been anything from a science experiment gone wrong, a natural formation that the planetary authority chose to ignore, or a weapon of war deployed against them. Whatever the case, the black hole appears to have opened suddenly and with no warning, given that no other evacuation efforts appear to have been made. Despite this, Metro Man's parents appeared to have had enough time to prepare an escape pod for their son. When the black hole opened and the planets were being sucked in, Metro Man's parents launched their son into space in the pod, with a course set for Earth. Metro Man, as a baby, already displayed arrogant tendencies, gloating as he overtook Megamind's pod on the way to Earth. His pod, presumably programmed to find the best place to live, knocked Megamind's pod out of the way upon reaching Earth, landing in the home of Lord and Lady Scott. He grew up spoiled, becoming more arrogant and always craving glory, eventually going to the same school as Megamind, often coming to bully and belittle him, intentionally or not. When they became adults, Metro Man, pressed by society's expectations of him and his aspirations, became the hero of Metro City, constantly saving it from Megamind, who became his nemesis and tried to capture the city. Eventually, Metro Man realized that he wasn't living the life he wanted, just the life everyone expected him to live, as he ultimately wanted to be a simple musician. He decided to put an end to his constant game of hero and villain with Megamind, faking his death during one of Megamind's schemes to destroy him, claiming that copper was his weakness and using a skeleton with his cape to fake the appearance of his corpse after being hit with one of Megamind's weapons.
After his presumed death, he hid out in his private lair, becoming a musician known as Music Man. While Megamind initially took advantage of his apparent victory by taking over the city, Megamind later realized that being a supervillain had no point without a hero to fight, bringing an end to the hero/villain aspect of the city's society. Megamind, despite first deciding to simply forget Metro Man, changed his mind and decided to use some of Metro Man's DNA to create a new hero, based on an idea he got from a reporter named Roxanne, accidentally turning an incredibly dimwitted cameraman named Hal into a superpowered being. After Hal, now named Tighten (or Titan), became a villain who took the city for himself, Megamind and Roxanne went to Metro Man's hideout to investigate possible weaknesses for members of Metro Man's species, which they assumed to still be copper. However, they find that Metro Man is still alive, now bearded. Metro Man admits the truth, and refuses to help take down Tighten, but tells Megamind that whenever evil arises, true good will rise to stop it. When Megamind fights Tighten directly, he utilizes a holographic projection of Metro Man to scare off Tighten, which works until Tighten recognizes Megamind's unique speech patterns. After Tighten is defeated and reverted to an ordinary Human, Metro Man was present at the opening of the new Megamind Museum.

- When the black hole opened, Metro Man's parents appeared to have had some idea of what was to come in advance, and had a well-made escape craft prepared. This implies that Metro Man's species, or at least some members of their species, knew of the black hole's arrival. If this is the case, then it is possible that the majority of their species were in denial of incoming destruction, that those who knew decided to keep things quiet to avoid mass panic, or that they were informed too late to ready mass evacuations. This could also imply that the black hole began as a minuscule object that suddenly grew to gargantuan size that the species had already discovered, but even if this is the case, it is still unknown if it was artificial or natural in origin.
- Megamind's species appears to have named Metro Man's species' homeworld "Metro Planet," though it is unknown if this is the true name of this planet.
