Merlinisapiens are chameleon-like aliens from an unknown invisible planet in the Milky Way Galaxy that is impossible to find by off-worlders.[1]

Biology[]

Anatomy[]

Merlinisapiens resemble mottled purple humanoid salamanders with three triangular eyes, each one in a different color. Males have red, green, and blue eyes while females have yellow, magenta, and cyan eyes. Though most members are slender, some are overweight.

Lifespan[]

Merlinisapiens may have a longer lifespan than Humans because a Merlinisapien dubbed "Prisoner 775" said he was a husband and father. Being a father makes a Human about 30–40 years old, depending on the child. Prisoner 775 was locked in Area 51 for 40–50 years, so that might make him about 70–90 years old.

Powers and abilities[]

Similar to Earth chameleons, Merlinisapiens are able to blend with their surroundings, although they cannot replicate bright light conditions. Their differently colored eyes allow them to see each other when they are invisible.[1]

Merlinisapiens are extremely agile, flexible, and slippery.

Merlinisapien tails each contain a hidden retractable stinger.

Merlinisapiens have sharp teeth and claws that are strong enough to leave slash marks on the armor of cyborgs such as Exo-Skull.

Merlinisapiens possess superhuman strength, allowing them to fight on-par with Vulpimancers and Revonnahganders.

Weaknesses[]

Despite being able to appear invisible, a Merlinisapien's shadow is still visible. Their camouflage can also be compromised if they are carrying objects, or are covered with a substance such as powder or oil.

Merlinisapiens can be sensed by Anodites via their mana. Similarly, they can be tracked by Vulpimancers.

Merlinisapiens are unable to appear invisible to each other due to the way their eyes work. Similarly, they are unable to see other species capable of turning invisible, such as Ectonurites.[1]

Like other living beings, Merlinisapiens can be controlled by a Vladat's Corrupturas.

Despite their enhanced strength, Merlinisapiens are physically weaker than Evolved Vulpimancers.

Culture and society[]

Merlinisapiens wear helmets with horn-like attachments on them, which create the illusion that they actually have horns on their heads. These helmets probably have spectrum-wide vision similar to those worn by Yautja.[1]

Language[]

Male Merlinisapiens speak using light German accents whereas females speak using Italian accents. The latter is evident by Subdora making copious usage of Italian phrases such as "mi amore" to refer to Exo-Skull and "mio capo" for Maltruant. Similarly, she also proverbs such as "She who perseveres wins at last".

Notable members[]

  • Chamalien: An Omnitrix transformation used by Ben Tennyson.
    • Negative Chamalien: An alternate version of Chamalien used by Albedo.
  • Subdora: A Merlinisapien thief who has worked with Maltruant.
  • Tini Rau: A Merlinisapien Plumber cadet
  • "Prisoner 775": A Merlinisapien who was unjustly imprisoned in Area 51.

Notes[]

  • The name Merlinisapien was first used on-screen by the Ultimatrix's AI in the Ultimate Alien episode "Prisoner Number 775 is Missing".
  • The colors of a male Merlinisapien's eyes (i.e. red, green, and blue) represent the RGB color model. Likewise, the colors of a female's eyes (i.e. cyan, magenta, and yellow) represent the CMYK color model.
  • When Ben Tennyson wore the Ultimatrix, Chamalien's DNA was catalogued in playset 5.
  • During the development of Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Chamalien had concept art drawn by Glen Murakamai.[2]
    • The Merlinisapien design featured on the show was created by Glenn Wong with color styling by Chris Hooten.[2]
  • When attempting to incorporate Chamalien into Omniverse, he was slated to appear in an early version of the episode "Universe vs. Tennyson" in a scene where he spied on Chadzmuth. Unfortunately, the episode's story was changed and the scene was consequently removed.[1]
    • Had Chamalien appeared in Omniverse, Derrick J. Wyatt would have chosen Dee Bradley Baker to reprise his role from Ultimate Alien.[1]
    • In 2020, Wyatt released full-color models of Chamalien's hypothetical appearance in Omniverse and an alternate version of Chamalien used by Albedo.
  • It is confirmed that the Omnitrix from the Ben 10 reboot contains Merlinisapien DNA.[3] Therefore, Chamalien is one of the countless aliens whose DNA pod was glimpsed in the episode "Innervasion Part 5: High Override".
    • Chamalien was among the aliens considered to physically appear in the reboot but was unable to make the cut because the crew had no plans for the transformation.[3]
