Mellanoid Slime Worms are an alien species known to the United Federation of Planets in the 24th century. They are known to occur in the Delta Quadrant.
Biology[]
Mellanoid Slime Worms are limbless gastropod-like creatures with glossy black eyes. Their bodies are translucent and amorphous. They eat metal, and their malleable nature allows them to swallow large objects easily.
Described as "indestructible", Mellanoid Slime Worms can withstand exposure to the vacuum of space and even a photon grenade detonation without the slightest discomfort.
Their sapience level is not known, but they don't appear to be fully sapient and the universal translators employed by the Federation cannot decode their language.
