Martians are a humanoid species from Mars, who came to Earth for unknown reasons, displaying hostility towards Humans.
Biology[]
Martians are tall green-skinned humanoids, with a mostly Human-like build. Additional features include large front teeth, large pointed ears, a long nose, and a tendency to move their lips and nose as if chewing or sniffing, but not letting their lips touch. Martians also possess super strength, enough to easily break through wood and send adult Humans flying. Despite evolving in the Martian environment, they are perfectly capable of surviving in Earth's environment.
Culture and society[]
Little is known of Martian society, other than showing indiscriminate hostility towards Humans, making no attempt to communicate and using their super strength to attack in place of weaponry. It is possible that they are interested in abducting Humans, as the only known Martian on Earth initially ignored a Human man in favor of approaching his daughter, presumably to capture her. Martian clothing consists of tight green bodysuits only leaving their faces and ears exposed, with a thick dark green tunic sporting a gold belt buckle, large shoulderpads, shiny dark green gloves, dark green boots, and a silver headband with four thin antennae. Martians display generally apathetic attitudes, even while attacking.
Technology[]
Martian technology is highly advanced, enabling them to fly between planets in flying saucer-shaped spacecraft colored a light yellow-green, emitting a whistling sound while in flight and bearing a distinct top and bottom. The top of the spacecrafts appear to be their cockpits, with a dome-like structure. They are presumably equipped with some sort of teleportation technology capable of beaming lifeforms to and from the ships, as the only saucer seen on Earth did not land, and yet its occupant still made it to the ground through an unseen manner.
History[]
In the early 1980s, a Martian spacecraft arrived on Earth, being seen by a man in front of his walled house. The man, frightened, attempted to tell his daughter of the sight, but she did not believe him, so he called a superhero named El Chapulín Colorado for help. Chapulín initially did not believe the man as well, and the saucer flew out of view. Then, Chapulín's antennae detected the presence of "the enemy," likely the Martian, although he mistook the scuba-suited neighbor for the Martian, making him believe there may not have been a Martian after all. After Chapulín, the neighbor, and the man's daughter all entered the house, the man was left outside, also believing he had just been seeing things, only for the Martian to enter his property. The man was paralyzed with fear, and the Martian walked around him, entering the house just as Chapulín left through the window, the two not encountering each other. Within the house, the Martian attempted to grab the daughter, but she escaped the house and closed the door on the Martian, soon followed by the neighbor. They ran into the man and Chapulín outside, who still did not believe there was a Martian, until he saw the Martian punch through the door to exit the house.
While frightened, Chapulín was ready with La Chicharra Paralizadora, a bicycle horn capable of freezing objects, using it to freeze the Martian mid-swing as he went in for a strike. As the man examined the Martian, Chapulín explained how to unfreeze a target by honking the horn twice, idiotically demonstrating while aiming at the Martian, unfreezing the Martian and allowing him to knock the man out with his strike. The Martian then turned to attack Chapulín, only to be frozen again. However, as Chapulín tried to explain the concept of the horn to the neighbor, who was scared off by the frozen Martian, he foolishly unfroze the Martian again, allowing the Martian to knock his horn away. The Martian then went for another swing, but Chapulín ducked it, making the Martian fall over. As he got back up, Chapulín picked up the horn and tried to use it again, but held it the wrong way and retreated. However, the Martian then ignored Chapulín, instead going to the man, who had gotten up again, and sent him flying skywards with an uppercut. Just before he could hit the ground, Chapulín froze the man in mid-air with a honk, confusing the Martian. The Martian then went to strike Chapulín once more, but Chapulín froze him with one honk, just as both Chapulín and the daughter noticed the Martian saucer in the air above them. Chapulín then used his own super strength to send the still-frozen Martian flying back into the saucer.
Appearances[]
- Chespirito s02e26d "El marciano" (1981)
Notes[]
- The episode this species was featured in is an adaptation of "Algún día los terrícolas llegarán a Marte, o por lo menos a estimarte," which featured its own Martian species, distinct from that of a later adaptation. However, the species of prior adaptations were depicted as focused on abducting animals, only attacking Humans after mistaking Chapulín for an animal and trying to capture him and others who resisted them, making their presence on Earth likely one of examination and scientific discovery, if inconsiderate towards Humans. In contrast, this incarnation of Martians has unknown motives, possibly in the vein of abducting Humans.
- Not to be confused with the species of the 1970 episode of the same name.
