Martians are a humanoid species from Mars, who showed indiscriminate hostility towards Humans.
Biology[]
Martians are humanoids with a mostly Human-like body shape. However, they have light green skin and a taller cranium than Humans, with a ridge in the middle of their larger forehead, and dark hair. Additional features include a protruding chin and large, semi-pointed ears with large earlobes. Despite evolving in the Martian environment, they are perfectly capable of surviving in Earth's environment.
Culture and society[]
Little is known of Martian society, other than they appear hostile towards Humans, sending one-man invasion forces to Human establishments, although the Martians in question do not use lethal force, implying that they want to capture Humans alive. Martians, or at least their soldiers, wear dull silver jumpsuits with a metal collar, likely for a helmet, with black gloves, reflective silver boots, and a thin grey belt. The Martian language is identical to Spanish.
Technology[]
Martians possess spacecraft in the form of flying saucers, capable of traveling between planets. The only known Martian weapon is an orange raygun, which can paralyze both Humans and Martians in one shot, and then unfreeze them with two consecutive shots. The energy fired by this weapon is invisible, at least to the Human eye, and is incapable of generating lethal intensities.
History[]
In the 1970s, a Martian spacecraft landed outside a seaside pub. A girl saw the landing, and a Martian exiting the saucer, quickly running into the pub, where her father, a diver, and several other sailors were drinking in. Her father went to investigate what was outside, but the other sailors did not believe her, making her summon El Chapulín Colorado for help. The Martian then approached the pub, scaring Chapulín, the girl, and all the sailors, although the diver appeared to have not come across the Martian. As most of the sailors fled the bar, one sailor tried to attack the Martian with a bag of heavy objects, only to be paralyzed by the Martian's raygun. The Martian tried to freeze the girl, but she evaded him, so the Martian left the building. The diver then reentered, only to be mistaken for another Martian by Chapulín and knocked out. As Chapulín celebrated, the real Martian reentered, scaring Chapulín and making him run across the pub, but he was quickly frozen in place. The diver then got up and tried hitting the Martian with another heavy bag, only be paralyzed as well. With no one left to defend her, the girl asked if the Martian had killed everyone. The Martian clarified that he only froze them, as his gun could not kill, and explained that he could unfreeze his victims with two shots. Hearing this, the girl quickly grabbed the gun away from the Martian and used it to freeze him.
Appearances[]
- Los supergenios de la mesa cuadrada, s01e07c, "El marciano"
Notes[]
- "El marciano" was the first sketch of El Chapulín Colorado, and thus, this species is the first of many variations of Martians throughout the series.
- A later episode, "No es lo mismo "los platillos voladores" que "los bolillos plateadores"", was an adaptation of "El marciano," featuring a Human-like Martian species with more ambiguous motives.
- Not to be confused with the species from the 1981 episode of the same name.
