Mairans are a species of strange, multi-tentacled terrestrial beasts which have the ability to read minds and can be used to telepathically extract information from people during interrogations.
This method was employed by Saw Gerrera on the planet Jedha using a Mairan named Bor Gullet. Although the origins of Bor Gullet remain unclear, it may not be a native to that world. Having one's mind probed by a Mairan also tends to have potentially-destructive effects on the victim's mental integrity.
