The Leviathan (singular is also plural) are a collection is primordial deities, cosmic eldritch entities that are worshipped as an alien pantheon.
Biology[]
The Leviathan forms are variable coming in monstrous forms. Majority have the traits of mollusks, possessing tentacles, soft bodies and radula. Interestingly these entities exist in a higher plane though have a passive presence on the mortal planes via their heralds. These heralds as it turns out are individuals who could be categorized as superhuman or even beyond mortal, such as meta humans whose powers originate from super sciences or even sorcery. Though even non-meta humans are connected through them via through their extraordinary ability or skills.
One could even save these heralds are figuratively the “children of the Leviathan”. Each herald has the potential to actually manifest the physical form of a Leviathan though can only do so if they heed the call of their “parents”, should they delve deeper into where their powers originates. Once they do, there is no turning back and they will be unable to retain any vestige of being mortal, ascending beyond to a godlike station.
Leviathans while described as a pantheon are more akin to cosmic monsters. Immortal monsters that exist on a higher plane. When they tether themselves to a world they wish to enlighten, their enlightenment is translated into corrupting the world and surrounding dimensions they arrive in. Under their malignant influence every living being in proximity will be converted into their spawn, creating unspeakable mutations and horrors.
History[]
According to their Herald, the Leviathan touched Earth through its first Emissary, Captain Comet the first superhero, who received his power from pieces of a comet that were actually remnants of a dead Leviathan floating in the void of space.
Other extraordinary beings followed Captain Comet, from ingenious industrialists who used their wealth to invent fantastical inventions, determined crime fighters, nobility of undersea kingdoms, mystical practitioners, and many more.
The Secret, the Mystic Defender of Earth had sensed dark whispers at the edge of reality. Curious on what was approaching, the Secret peered beyond the veil. A mere glimpse of what he saw nearly drove him insane and so terrified of the truth that he buried the memory and blinded himself with his magic.
However the damage was done as the Leviathan sensed someone was calling to them. Other less altruistic minds had discovered the alien gods, rather than turn away they reveled in the promised utopia the gods would bring. Among them were the Maniacs a pair of deranged villains who attempted to release a bioweapon in Empire City to turn its populace into monsters. They were stopped by their nemesis Devil-X. Having seemingly slayed the crazed villains, Devil-X though was near fatally wounded by the bioweapon. He suspected that the Maniacs were only pawns of something, and that something was coming. His last message were to his allies in the Vanguard Alliance, warning them of the threat, before detonating a bomb to kill himself before the virus could overtake him.
Shortly afterwards Devil-X’a old friend and enemy Dr. Dimitri Ottoman came rampaging in Empire City with warnings of doom. His presence cause much damage to the city and panic by the populace causing Vanguard Alliance members Torpeda and Gaia to quell the destruction. Commander Comet eventually put down the giant spaceman ending his rampage, however the space explorer told his former enemies that he did not come to fight but to warn them, having encountered something sinister and heading to Earth. Before he could elaborate further his body mutated into a mass of tentacles. Before it could grow any further Comet used his power to incinerate the entity, killing it and Ottoman.
While the heroes wondered if Ottoman was infected by whatever he was trying to warn them of, Comet received Devil-X’s message and learned of his passing, which he relayed to his comrades.
The heroes attended Devil-X’s civilian funeral along with Devil-X’s protege Renee who was in the crowd. The heroes of the Vanguard contemplated on Devil-X’s words when the Secret appeared with dire tidings on the end of existence.
Known Leviathan[]

The Horde Mother is a giant kraken-like being with the torso of a female. She can be summoned to the mortal plane through large quantities of sacrifice. From her body, she can spawn grotesque mollusk/crustacean monsters. The Horde Mother possesses even powers of bikinis, able to mutate other beings into her thralls with a touch.
The Undone Child[]

A god that resembles a giant developing fetus surrounded by fleshy umbilical cords. It is a relentless hungry god that snatches whatever prey it can find with its chords and grubby hands, plucking them into its maw. Though its mouth is not merely an entry for its food, but within lies another dimension. A universe of infinity, filled with smaller versions of itself that wail in the abyss with its victoms. According to a voodoo sorceress, the Child bounds itself to the world similar to a possession, and can be exorcised, though it requires a combination of physical force and concentrated magic.
The Chattering Maw[]

A black mass of chattering mouths that speak incomprehensible words. When it speaks, and its victims listen, it causes the heads of mortals to explode. Its victims don’t just simply die, but their bones also begin speaking the same words as the alien god. The skeletons are turned into its puppets. While normally its words can’t be comprehended, those with acute hearing can almost make out the words before they too expire and their heads explode. However its physical form is still vulnerable to attacks and can be destroyed.
The Crawling Pestilence[]

A giant mass of mutated three eyed rats that work under a single mind. When it approaches its smell is said to be unbearable. The Crawling Pestilence is a ravenous god that devours and spreads itself across the world, leaving nothing but bones and blood.
The horde can shift shape into anything it wants in order to corner prey or defend itself. However the Crawling Pestilence has limits as it appears to only be able to consume flesh and not other organic matter like plants or bark. The rats can still be affected by disease and poisons which can cause enough catastrophic damage to sunder the god’s physical form apart.
The Caller From The Void[]

The father and god of the Leviathan. It resembles a eight pointed giant fleshy star with a mass of tentacles behind it. With the size of many times that of Earth’s. Unlike its children which can manifest on Earth, the Caller seems to be only able to manifest just outside Earth’s orbit and forced to travel through the void of space to approach the planet.
The Unwanted Whisper[]

One of the more humanoid Leviathan, it’s resembles a giant golden robed and masked being. With six long arms and a torso composed of many tentacles. It wields a glowing blue sword. The Unwanted Whisper appears to be a magic user which it can conjure abstract symbols for spells through its silent gestures.
The Faceless Prophet[]
A Leviathan who has yet to make an appearance, as it did not initially appear during the Leviathan’s first invasion of Earth. Though from the words of a time traveler its emergence is nigh.
Unknown Comet Leviathan[]

A nameless seemingly dead Leviathan that appears to be drifting in the void. Its body resembles an obese humanoid with a tentacle beard and nine limbs. It is hinted to be the source of Commander Comet, as whenever he says the word Temoc pieces of this Leviathan’s body hurl towards Earth right where the Comet makes his transformation from an old man to a superhero.
