Kwamis are animal shaped creatures that grant humans powers by possessing a jewel called a "miraculous".

The species first came to be upon the creation of the universe.
Biology[]
Kwamis all have child-like proportions and textures and colors matching different animals; ladybugs, cats, bees, foxes, mice, etc.
Behavior and Nature[]
They mostly reside inside their respective Miraculouses, like a genie in a bottle, and are freed whenever a person puts them on. Each Kwami has a phrase to grant superpowers to its master, relating to the corresponding animal motif, and when it is said, the Kwami then enters the miraculous (whether willingly or not) to transform its master into the superhero the miraculous is connected to.
