Godzilla fights King Ghidorah

Godzilla rivaling King Ghidorah

King Ghidorah (Titanus Ghidorah, Golden Demise, Monster Zero) is a giant three-headed space dragon that on numerous occasions attacked Earth and Godzilla and the other Earth Defenders.

Biology[]

King Ghirodah has the physical appearance of a large bipedal, three-headed dragon with wings and no arms.

Powers[]

Ghirodah has often been shown having the same plasma breath as Godzilla.

Notes[]

  • Though he appeared to be a formidable foe when he was first sighted in Japan, it seemed as if he got weaker every appearance. (Example, first appearance took three monsters to beat him, next was two, eventually with a teammate he could be buy another monster with a teammate, and eventually Godzilla could destroy him single handed lay with two allies.
  • King Ghidorah was planned to appear in the original plan for the first American Godzilla movie, replacing the monster called the Gryphon, but was scrapped when Jan De Bont (the director) left over issues.
  • According to Sci-Fi Japan, King Ghidorah (along with Mothra) was planned to appear in the animated series that followed the 1998 GODZILLA film. However, the idea was scrapped due to both Mothra and King Ghidorah been tied up in other rights situations - although another factor was the tight production schedule and the fact that it would be almost impossible to adapt one of the Toho monsters into animated form, send it to Toho for approval, and get it back in time to include in an episode.
  • According to Legendary Pictures, King Ghidorah - along with Mothra and Rodan - will be appearing in the sequel to the 2014 Godzilla reboot.
  • King Ghidorah made an appearance in the post credit seen of Kong: Skull Island, and is set as the antagonist for Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)
  • According to Derrick J. Wyatt, it is possible that the Nemetrix from Ben 10: Omniverse can accept Ghidorah's DNA.
  • Ghirodah's species has been referred to as "Titanus ghirodah", however this designation is faulty, as "Titanus" is the genus that the Titan beetle (Titanus giganteus) belongs to. In fact, many kaiju species have been given the "Titanus" designation in recent years, paired with their Japanese names (Godzilla being "Titanus gojira", Mothra being "Titanus mosura", and King Kong being "Titanus Kong", contrary to the previous terminology, "Godzillasaurus" and "Megaprimatus kong" for Godzilla and Kong respectively), despite the fact there's no way they could belong to the same genus, being from completely different classes, Reptilia and Mammalia. Same problem with Mothra being in the class "Insecta".
