The Kalik are a sapient hive-based insectoid species. The Doctor has described them as a very advanced civilization by Earth standards.
Biology[]
Kalik are large insectoids with four legs, two arms with tridactyl hands, a pair of antennae, and a long prehensile tongue which is strong enough to lift humanoids off the ground and strangle them. They are naturally omnivorous, but can subsist on a vegetarian diet. Their young ones develop in a chamber filled with fluid.
Culture and society[]
Modern Kalik are a peaceful vegetarian species, but this hasn't always been the case. Renegade Kalik claim that long ago they used to be a noble warrior race and excelled as hunters. Their current government prohibits the consumption of any food that isn't of vegetable origin.
