Kalibas' species is an ancient, rare, and unnamed demonic species.
Biology[]
Kalibas' species are large beings, with a main body resembling a massive exposed brain, similarly to Spiderdemons. Protruding from the underside of their main body are several large tentacles, and from some parts of their frontal undersides, four large spikes protrude out around the sides of their central bodies. Kalibas' species is known to be nearly immobile, incapable of moving without great difficulty, presumably by dragging their bodies with their tentacles. In addition, they are unable to communicate, and are blind. As they have no visible mouth, or any other organs aside from a brain, it is possible that they have an alternate method of gaining sustenance, such as absorbing heat, energy, or even souls. Kalibas' species appears to bear some psychic abilities, enabling them to examine souls and the potential in them to be used in the process of creating Argent Energy, and are able to summon demons to their aid. They appear completely incapable of physically defending themselves, appearing to be the only demonic creature with such a disadvantage, relying on external forces such as shields, turrets, and demons they summon. A single blow from the Doom Slayer was able to completely obliterate Kalibas, so it is possible that Kalibas' species are also not very durable.
History[]
Kalibas' species arose in Hell's ancient history, although they rarely appeared. When a deal was struck between the Maykrs and the Dark Lord of Hell, Argenta slaves were used to construct a demonic city in Hell known as the Nekravol, meant for the production of Argent Energy. Argent Energy was produced by breaking a mortal soul through torment, harvesting it, and forming it into Hell Essence, which was then combined with Sentinel Energy. However, only certain mortal souls were capable of creating viable Essence, and thus, a judge was needed to determine what souls were fit for the process. Kalibas, who had come into existence at an unknown time, was given the title of the Sightless Judge, and was placed in the Nekravol, presumably moved there by other demons, protected by an energy shield and turrets dubbed the Eyes of Kalibas. Souls gathered in the Abaddon Pit were taken in cages to Kalibas, who scanned souls to determine who was fit for the process. Those deemed worthy were sent deeper into the facility to begin the process, while those deemed unworthy were discarded to the blood swamps. During Hell's invasion of Earth, the Doom Slayer fought his way to the Nekravol to gain access to Urdak through its Argent Transmitter, entering a soul cage and riding it to Kalibas. Kalibas detected the Doom Slayer and dropped him from the cage, summoning demons and activating its turrets to attack the Slayer. However, the Slayer killed all the demons and destroyed each turret, deactivating Kalibas' shield. With Kalibas exposed, the Doom Slayer jumped to its platform and delivered a single blow to its central body, blowing Kalibas apart. Without Kalibas, it can be assumed that the Nekravol soon stopped functioning, even before the Doom Slayer killed Davoth and ended Hell's threat. No other members of Kalibas' species were seen by the Doom Slayer.
