Jormungandr is an aquatic breed of Garm.

Biology[]

A distinct offshoot of the Grendel breed. It was created after Skald Thatcher defected from the Einherjar military, having come to the conclusion that the war between humanity and the Garm were pointless. Adopting a nihilistic vision, Thatcher infiltrated a Garm hive and inserted his mind into the hive collective, adopting the name Loki with the intent to begin Ragnarök as prophesized in Norse myth. In keeping with his identity of Loki, he created three new alpha Garm to lead his campaign against his own people, each named after the children of the Norse trickster god, Jormungandr, Fenrir, and Hel.

Jormungandr has the same ability to kill Einjerjar, though due to being deployed on the watery planet of Kai Prime it has adapted to marine combat. Like the Grendel it was serpentine and had the same cockroach-meets-reptile visage as the other garm broods. Instead of the scything blades of the terrestrial Grendel, the Jormungandr sported tentacles each of which ended in a barbed tip. It has bioluminescent fluids which can bind to sea wounds on its body. It’s digestive system contains a fluid that continues to break matter down even after it is expelled out of the creature’s belly.

Additionally the breed appears to be much more cunning, and determine, willing to even consume its own kind to supplement its energy reserves.
