The Ixlls are an intelligent race of pink-haired flying creatures native to the moon Da Soocha V, also known as the Pinnacle Moon.
Physiology & Culture[edit | edit source]
As a whole, Ixlls had great ability to navigate in darkness, through the use of natural sonar. They are extremely speedy organisms, capable of flight speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour, and gliding speeds at 40 miles per hour.
The Ixll language consists of high-pitched chirps, clicks, and whistles, all of which can carry over great distances in the thin air of the pinnacles. They lived within warrens constructed at the tops of flattened pinnacles, and often could be found collecting odds and ends to decorate them. Their species had many legends, which often centered around the Tumnors, a large predator of their young.
Historical Background[edit | edit source]
Descended from omnivorous predators, the Ixll have a well-developed feudal society that is generally peaceful. At the same time, they have an aptitude for tool as well as craft making, allowing them to create simple but elegant bags and ornaments, but also darker tools, such as black powder grenades -- known to the Ixll as "exploding stones".
Pinnacle Moon was the home of Pinnacle Base, a New Republic fortification used after the fall of Coruscant to Imperial warlords prior to the rebirth of Emperor Palpatine. Ixlls commonly flew through the pinnacles that dotted the moon's surface and were often seen darting around New Republic ships. They demonstrated great playfulness as well as friendliness to New Republic personnel, and quickly picked up on galactic technology, even learning how to use their whistling speech to reprogram astromech droids as pranks.
When the New Republic evacuated the world in advance of the Galaxy Gun's projectile, they took several Ixlls with them. Eventually, they established a colony of them on one of the uninhabited moons of Endor.
