Hylobons are a sapient species from the Mid Rim Territories. A group of this species served as the private security force of near-Human crime lord Dryden Vos.
Biology[]
Hylobons are humanoids who bear grey skin, with orange hair, which, at least for males, grow in a short beard-like fashion around their chins and to their ears. Their faces appear somewhat felinoid, with perpetually frowning mouths, nostrils sitting flush above their mouths, furrowed skin in place of eyebrows, and cat-like eyes.
Culture and society[]
Little is known of Hylobon society, but their members have often displayed a strong instinct for physical dominance. Hylobons are also known to serve as enforcers and elite security for especially wealthy clients, including crime lords.
History[]
Sometime before 10 BBY, Dryden Vos, the near-Human public face of Crimson Dawn, employed a group of Hylobons as an elite private security force, equipping them with black armor and JND-41 percussive cannons. They traveled with Vos aboard his Nau'ur-class yacht First Light, with Hylobons Toht Ra and Aemon Gremm confiscating all weapons from any guests Vos brought aboard. In 10 BBY, Hylobons remained present on the First Light when Human criminal Tobias Beckett and new recruits to his gang, Han Solo and the Wookiee Chewbacca, arrived to meet with Vos. Aemon Gremm, who was currently working the entrance shift, took their weapons and allowed them upstairs.
Some time later, after Beckett, Solo, and Chewbacca returned from a job retrieving coaxium, joined by Vos' lieutenant Qi'ra, Toht Ra was working the entrance shift, and confiscated the group's weapons, although Beckett did not enter, waiting outside while supposedly pretending to be dead. However, he soon entered, presumably allowed to keep a gun on his person by Toht Ra. Alongside Toht Ra and another Hylobon, Beckett then confronted Han, who was seemingly trying to give Vos fake coaxium, part of a plan to give the real coaxium to a group of rebels in the growing Rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Vos deployed Aemon and the other Hylobons to the planet, Savareen, to take the real coaxium from the rebels, but found that the rebels were actually civilians in disguise, with the real rebels ambushing and killing some Hylobons, including Aemon, other Hylobons surrendering. Beckett soon realized what was going on, and promptly shot Toht Ra and the other Hylobon, taking Chewbacca hostage and taking the real coaxium, leaving Han and Qi'ra to fight Vos. Vos was killed by the duo after Qi'ra picked up Toht Ra's vibrocutlass, allowing Han to escape and kill Beckett. The surviving Hylobons were presumably taken into custody by the locals, their security force dissolved without Vos.
