Hyclops are powerful predators native to the moon of Ganymede orbiting Jupiter.

Biology[]

The Hyclops is a terrifying behemoth standing more than twelve feet in height, and is covered with shaggy fur from head to toe, and has four arms equipped with razor sharp claws. Its three one-eyed heads that bear murderous fangs that protrude from a slobbering, loose-lipped mouth.

Hyclops are highly durable and nothing short of explosive bullets or shooting it in the eyes will kill it. For some reason, Hyclops are attracted to infra-red lights, making this an effective method of luring the beasts into a trap.

History[]

A Hyclops had once been encountered in the past by Tommy Strike, a companion to the great huntress Gerry Carlyle, with Strike having encountered these vicious beasts during his trip across many worlds. Using his abilities, he was able to create a realistic illusion of the Hyclops for Carlyle and her fellow hunters to do battle with and practice.

Notes[]

Hyclops (Thrilling Wonder Stories 1941)

The first depiction of the Hyclops

  • In its earliest illustration from Thrilling Wonder Stories in 1941, the creature was erroneously depicted as a single-headed beast with three eyes on smaller bulbous heads growing out of the top of the larger head. The 1956 re-release of the story "Almussen's Comet" in Interplanetary Hunter would go on to correctly depict the beast as described in the book.
