The wormlike Guests are a lethal pest of the High Wilderness, creatures that hijack spacecraft for their animalistic needs, then move to a new one when the warmth runs out. Vessel overtaken by the Guests are distinguished by the swarm of black worms pouring out of their guns, who have replaced their ammunition with themselves. Guests that miss their targets will teleport back into the vessel that they occupied.
Adding to this danger is the fact that Guests are competent if chaotic drivers, who have all the competence needed to run a train [1].
Psychic warmth is just as important to the guests as physical warmth. They seek the residual nostalgia covering keepsakes, heirlooms and personal belongings. A race of pirates who define value under terms of intimacy. They forsake and crush all other parts of a train except for these sources of heat.
Society[]
Guests are so loathed that their removal is one of the very few free services in the High Wilderness. However, the Waste-Waif's association with decay and isolation has made them a favored race of hers. They will pray for her wrath against any captain whose pest control has become "proactive".
