Grioths are psychic, bat-like humanoids that dwell on the frozen surfaces of rogue planets. They worship Nyarlathotep and similar entities, and often raid warmer worlds for resources.

Description[]

Anatomy & Physiology[]

Grioths are purple-skinned humanoids with bat-like features. They have bat-like wings growing from their backs and heads resembling those of bats. While the wings are relatively small, grioths are still capable of flight. They also have a long, rat-like tail and four blue eyes. Their hands have six long, spindly fingers.

They have a number of adaptations to living on rogue planets. They are immune to cold and do not need to breathe, but are disoriented and pained by bright light. They see well in the dark and can perceive their surroundings non-visually out to twenty feet, possibly by sonar.

Powers & Abilities[]

Grioths have psychic and telepathic abilities. They can communicate telepathically out to thirty feet, and can use psychic magic to hamper other creatures' thoughts and telekinetically manipulate objects. They can also channel their psychic energies through the metals they use to craft weapons, allowing them to magnify the damage they do and to psychically stun their victims.

Venom[]

Grioth venom is injected through the creature's fangs. This venom is not lethal, but causes a brief period of debilitating fear.

Society[]

Grioths live in colonies built in spire cities. These colonies are often led by powerful grioth clerics devoted to Nyarlathotep. Grioths are not spacefaring as such, but they do build portals in order to raid planets for resources they cannot find on their rogue planets.
