The Geonosians were an insectoid race native to the planet Geonosis. Having evolved in the harsh environment of the planet, the Geonosians' hive-based society grew into a rigid caste system that defined a specific hierarchy that could not be broken: the queen and the aristocrats, the warriors, and the drones. They joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars, manufacturing their Battle Droid armies on Geonosis up until the Galactic Republic invaded and took control of the planet, killing the Geonosian Queen Karina the Great during their invasion. Years later, when the Republic was reorganized into the Galactic Empire, used the Geonosians as slaves to build their superweapon, the Death Star. Sometime later, after the build site of the Death Star was moved to a different location, the Imperial Military committed genocide on the Geonosian race, leaving only two known Geonosians surviving this genocide, Klik-Klak and a young Geonosian Queen who was unable to lay new eggs to restart the race.
Physical Appearance[]
The average Geonosian was an avian humanoid with leathery skin and insectoid features. The queen and the aristocrats had two thin wings that sprouted from each shoulder, and provided the primary means of locomotion for the Geonosian. Their hands and feet ended in three digits, and their legs had two joints each. Their triangular heads were dominated by a group of thick tendrils that hung from their chins.
Culture and Society[]

The warrior caste was divided into two distinct groups, the soldiers and the pilots. Despite the presence of the warrior caste, the Geonosians maintained no standing armies, and simply fought to defend their hives as necessary. There was also a powerful class of Geonosian known as the Geonosian Elites, which were large male warriors of Geonosis, known of utilizing powerful blasters known as Geonosian Elite Beam Weapons.
Those Geonosians that could fly considered themselves to be superior to their earthbound brethren, the wingless drones. The largest portion of the Geonosian population was made up of these simple drones, who were capable of doing excessive amounts of work with little or no supervision. The drones filled three separate subclasses within their hives: servants, farmers, and laborers.As a people, Geonosians were efficient workers, combining their own ingenuity with vast amounts of automation to quickly produce moderate technology.

Early History[]
For many centuries before the Battle of Geonosis, Geonosians found a wealth of buyers for their products, especially droids, but as the Old Republic crumbled, many of their former customers opted to buy from more local or cosmopolitan worlds.
Deal with the Separatists[]
All but a few of the Geonosian factories were abandoned, until Darth Sidious financed Poggle the Lesser's rise to power. Then, Count Dooku and the Separatists made a deal with the Geonosians to produce millions of battle droids, precipitating the onset of the Clone Wars.
The Clone Wars[]

Following years of building up an Droid Army for the Separatists, the Geonosians would be forced into fighting the Galactic Republic in attempting to defend their homeworld when the Republic's Clone Army arrived on the planet after the Separatists leaders had captured a few members of the Jedi Order and Galactic Senate. For the next four years, the Geonosians would aid the Separatists in the conflict with the Republic, intergrating their drones and warriors into the Separatist Army, mostly fighting with Separatist droids to retake Geonosis from the Republic.
Aftermath of the War[]
In the wake of the Clone Wars, Geonosian factories were forced to shut down large portions of their operations, as battle droids were made illegal by the Imperial Senate to prevent a new Droid Army rising up to fight the Republic, which had now become the Galactic Empire. As punishment for allying with the Separatists in the Clone Wars, the Empire had the Geonosians work as slaves in the construction of the Imperial Superweapon, the Death Star.
Genocide on the Geonosians[]
Sometime after the Rise of the Galactic Empire, but before the formation of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, the Empire moved the building site of the Death Star from Geonosis to a new unknown as secure location in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. Due to this, and the fact that the Geonosians may, if any were to escape the Empire, inform the galaxy of the weapon they were planning to build, the Galactic Empire ordered Imperial Stormtroopers to comince bombing runs on the planet, dropping large gas bombs across the planet to comit genocide on the entire Geonosian race. After this, the Empire only left small number of their military on the planet before leaving the planet entierly. This genocide would prove sucessful in killing of the entire Geonosian species, excluding one Geonosian drone named Klik-Klak and a single Geonosian Queen egg. Klik-Klak and this newborn Queen would attempt to rebuild the Geonosian race, but discovered that the new Queen was unable to produce new Geonosian eggs, meaning that they could not rebuild the Geonosian race.
Last attempt to Rebuild[]
The new Karina the Great, the last living Geonosian, attempted to revive the Geonosian race using Battle Droids.
Although she could not lay a complete Geonosian egg, the Queen, possibly with Klik-Klak's help, attached herself to a old Separatist Droid Factory, using the factory to merge her Geonosian eggs with Battle droid parts, creating a new Geonosian-Droid cyborg like species. The Queen would then be able to use this method to, in her eyes, rebuild the Geonosian race despite creating a new subspecies. This operation would also be stopped when Darth Vader himself arrived on the planet, taking control of the factory, cutting the Queen in half, and killing off a large number of cyborgs. It is believed that after this skirmish with Vader, the Queen would have later died, rendering the Geonosian species extinct with her. But, Klik Klak appears to be one of the last remaining Geonosians existed.
