The Gaoul, from the planet Sesharrim, are an ancient race of sapient flying creatures with an appearance reminiscent of a red humanoid pterosaur.
Biology[]
Gaouls have membranous wings, four-fingered hands and an eagle-like beak, and appear to be incapable of speaking (at least not the same language that is used by the all the other non-Drej races of the galaxy).
History[]
At one point the Gaoul were one of the most advanced races in the universe. Though they have regressed technologically to a primitive state the Gaoul maintain a deep wisdom. Professor Sam Tucker learned of the Gaoul and from them was inspired to create the Titan Project to create new planets as a solution to Earth's depleting resources, as the aliens had warned him of the dangers of humanity's overpopoulation and also predicted future conflicts with other species.
Prior to the Drej destroying Earth, Sam Tucker and the Gaoul developed a map to hide the Titan to prevent the Drej from finding. Fifteen years after Earth was destroyed Cale Tucker went to the Gaoul to decipher the map to the Titan. The Gaoul showed him how to read it, but the meeting was interrupted when the Drej forces arrived.
Several of the Gaoul were shot down when the Drej attacked their planet. As the Drej pursued the explorers which the Gaoul were trying to protect, one of them smashed into a hydrogen tree, a plant or fungus like species native to Sesharrim, causing it to explode, thus killing itself. However, the Gaoul also took down many Drej Stingers by clipping loose hydrogen trees to float into their path.
