The Gamorreans were a race of large, green-skinned, porcine humanoids native to the planet Gamorr, and was noted for their violent and bloody history. The female Gamorreans handled all of the necessary productive work while the males waged annual wars during the combat season. It was for this reason that the Gamorrean society was matriarchal, despite the fact that nearly twenty males were born for every female.
Gamorrean genealogy was the science of a select group of females who memorized songs and stories that contained the complex history of each family. The six-breasted females often took a senior as well as a junior husband, both of whom had to prove themselves on the battlefield before being allowed to choose a mate. The males were broken up into four castes: the warlord (the most powerful male of his clan, usually married to the matriarch), the clan boar (any other married male that make up the clan's military leaders), the tuskers (unmarried males who have hired into a clan as warriors), and the veterans (old, retired males who have more often than not been injured and can no longer fight).
Despite their violent natures, Gamorreans only used primitive weapons during the combat season, saving their more advanced weapons for off-planet use. Gamorreans also have a deep-seated hatred of droids.
The planet Gamorr was discovered by human traders, who were able to force the Gamorreans into submission through a series of 'negotiations,' and took the Gamorreans with them as slaves, body guards, soldiers, and bounty hunters. Jabba the Hutt was one of many members of his race to employ a number of Gamorreans in his army. In these roles, Gamorreans were exceedingly loyal to their employers, provided that the employer signed the contract in blood and agreed to fight the Gamorreans to prove their worthiness.
The normal body temperature of an average Gamorrean, who stood just under two meters in height, was 105 degrees.
