The Formics, colloquially referred to as Buggers, are the primary antagonists in the novel Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. They are an insectoid race that fought a war with humanity for 87 of years. They are lead by a Queen and all share a unified hive mind; each individual worker being very limited mental without its queen, to the point of being unable to survive without the telepathic influence of the Queen. The result of this biology is that the death of an individual is practically meaningless to them, which when applied to other species can easily lead to war.
