Fishers are race of mutated Humans, and possibly Closed, created from the toxic Celadon Sea of Carnelion IV.
Biology[]
Fishers, due to what species they once were, bear a humanoid build with Human-like proportions, and have kept at least some degree of sapience, although they appear to have lost the ability to speak. However, the toxic gases of the Celadon Sea have mutated them to possess an alien visage, with bluish-brown bumpy skin, thin bodies, no earlobes, no nose, sharp teeth, and large, bulging, all-black eyes.
Culture and society[]
While regarded as unintelligent animals by Closed, Fishers appear to have retained some sort of society, forming hunting bands to get food, which includes any surviving Closed or Humans who wander into the Celadon Sea. Fisher clothing consists of simple loincloths, wrappings around their arms, and sometimes armor crafted from metal scrap. They appear to still be capable of comprehending Galactic Basic, and retreat if they see danger they cannot surmount, such as lightsaber-wielders.
Technology[]
Fisher technology was reduced to levels even more primitive than the Open and Closed, consisting of blades, ropes, and harpoons made from scraps.
History[]
At some point before 32 BBY, Human and near-Human colonists on Carnelion IV entered civil war, with the Humans forming a faction known as the Open, while the near-Humans formed the Closed. During the war, all Carnelian cities were destroyed, and filled with toxic gases, forming the Celadon Sea. While the Open and Closed fled to the mountains, some survivors were trapped in the Celadon Sea, where the gases mutated them them into the Fishers. They became increasingly animalistic, hunting surviving Open and Closed who wandered too close to the ruins, although they never managed to find Sera, a female Human survivor who resided in a sealed fortress in the ruins.
In 29 BBY, Sera managed to send a distress signal to the Jedi. Two Human Jedi, Obi-Wan Kenobi and his padawan Anakin Skywalker, responded to the call. After running into a Closed commander named Grecker and two Open soldiers, getting them to team up after telling them of the distress signal, the group flew over Fisher territory in an airship. Fishers quickly assembled and attacked the airship, using grappling lines and hooks to climb onto it. Obi-Wan and Grecker began fighting them, while the Open kidnapped Anakin and escaped the ship in a glider, also shooting its gasbag. While Obi-Wan and Grecker managed to jump to safety before the ship hit the ground, the Fishers that got aboard were presumably killed in the crash. Grecker and Obi-Wan were then confronted by more Fishers, and Obi-Wan brandished his lightsaber, ordering the Fishers to stand down, as he was able to sense that they kept some intelligence, despite Grecker's insistence that they were just animals. Obi-Wan then cut a large rock in half with one swing, scaring off all the Fishers. It is unknown what became of the Fishers after the Republic forced a ceasefire, or during the Imperial era.
