Spotters are a species of small herbivores found on Shear, which display social behaviors similar to that of Earth's prairie dogs or meerkats. While some individuals feed on plants, others will serve as lookouts for predators. If one does spot danger, it will make a high-pitched warning call to the others, and will retreat into its burrows as its only protection.
