The Exploding Sclobs or scientifically known as Fragor Nidificans are a species native to the planet Sclob.
Biology[]
The Exploding Sclob is a spheroid fungus creature that initially resemble a blue puff ball with various mushroom growth which can manipulate lightning and survive in the vacuum of space. The Exploding Sclob is a fungus that uses environment to remove husks until exploding, thereby passively releasing her spores making it a literal "sex bomb". The process is said to sexual in nature but the Exploding Sclob has no control over it, as it is way to propagate the species. In doing so the Exploding Sclob dies.
There are seven husk forms which the Sclob goes through. After the first outer husk is remove, the Sclob resembles a pink sphere of goo. At this stage, the Sclob new husk is viscid and appealing to other species, which can cause them to be emotionally manipulated to the Sclob which can now empathically sense the emotions of other species. In some cases it draws them to the Sclob resulting them in becoming stuck to its new husk. The husk is shed after it heats up, leaving a third husk that ls a soft fluffy cotton ball with ears. Shortly later a Sclob will grow arms, and emit a sense for others to unconsciously have parental feelings towards them.
Next is a husk that is devoid of all the cotton ball fur, leaving the Sclob barren like a root, but soon the Sclob being emitting a smell that drives all insects towards it, growing yellow fur and a Rafflesia develops on its head. Once the Sclob sheds the husk its is barren once more before developing a new husk of pure black. At this stage the Sclob then begins to develop uncontrollable bursts of electricity and develops magnetic powers.
After this the husk develops a green outer casing which then cracks leaving a transparent membrane filled with spores. Sclob then vibrate at a frequency that sexually arouses everything around them before exploding.
Culture[]
Exploding Sclobs, despite their name are not a violent species. Their planet Sclob, is a beautiful, throbbing land of sex and death. Exploding Sclobs find their lifecycles to be sacred and make the journey back to their homeworld to complete their Death Ceremony, in which they will explode, die, and give life.
A tradition that they carry on like their ancestors before them, desiring for their flesh and blood to splatter across the sky, create organic streaks of their innards to paint against the backdrop of the Sclobian sunset. During their transition from one husk to the next, Exploding Sclob sing the "Song of Orgasmic Death".
