The Ethereals were an ancient race from the Andromeda Galaxy.
Biology[]
Etherals are an energy based species made of neutrinos and are capable of spaceflight and existing in the void of space.
History[]
At the dawn of time, when energy and matter exploded forth and led to the creation of the universe, its beginnings were witnessed by the basic, elementary particles such as quarks and their subatomic cousins. Most of these particle broke down to form more conventional forms of matter, evolving into new forms creating the first corporeal lifeforms.
Some the these first particles did not follow they same evolutionary path, but rather than breaking down, remained in furious, incoherent motion, constantly mutating and evolving until it formed a civilization of noncorporeals which would be called the Ethereals.
Among the Ethereal, the most infamous one was Stardust who became a Herald of Galactus. The Ethereal civilization would later fall after its cities were hit by the Annihilation Wave. Only a few managed to escape by forming a strangepac whilst the rest turned to dust. Using their collective power they called Stardust before them to answer for her crimes of forsaking the Ethereals. Out of revenge and grief the survivors attacked and killed Stardust but due to the Power Cosmic Stardust was able reconstitute herself. Stardust then proceeded to kill the remaining members of her race and then absorbed their sentient remains. Previously having abandonedher master Galactus, Stardust came before her former master to request to serve him once more. Stardust was rejected as the Silver Surfer had already taken up the role of Herald. To convince him of her loyalty, Stardust gave the Devourer of Worlds the remains of her race to feed him, rendering the Etherals truly extinct. The act surprised Galactus and allowed Stardust to be his second herald.
Culture[]
The Ethereals civilization laid within the heart of star. They were a culture that built giant monuments from radio waves and works of art out of quarks. Their culture was race were one and constantly mutating into challenging new forms.
Colonies of Ethereals were called strangepac of a protective grouping where various Etherals joined as a gestalt.
In matters of death, the Ethereals feared the concept and only believed in the four fundamental forces:
- Strong Force: which binded the quarks and leptons into matter.
- Electromagnetic Force: which shaped atoms into matter.
- Gravity: which pulled the Ethereals together
- Weak Force: which made the Ethereals burn.
