Eltarians are a sapient humanoid species native to Eltar. Their most famous member was Zordon, a wizard and Guardian of Eltar who formed Earth's Power Ranger teams and fought against various evil forces over thousands of years, even after being trapped in a time warp, while another Eltarian, Zophram, gained infamy after becoming the villainous Lord Zedd.
Biology[]
Eltarians are humanoids, and rather Human-like in external appearance, with the most notable external difference being that they have blue skin and are bald, although males can grow facial hair. Additionally, they have pupils that are either light blue or red. Eltarians are able to live for thousands of years, and at least one Eltarian was able to manifest as energy in the shape of his head while his body was stuck in a time warp. If put into life support in time, Eltarians can survive having all their skin burned off.
Culture and society[]
Eltarians, following three civil wars, became intergalactic peacekeepers, led by the elite Guardians of Eltar, a precursor to Power Rangers. Each Guardian of Eltar carries the title of Guardian, and in place of a primary color, they are identified by a metal, such as bronze, gold, and silver, with the lead Guardian referred to as the Supreme Guardian. Beneath their amor, Guardians wear jumpsuits in the same color as their designation. Eltarians are ruled by a council referred to as the Elders of Eltar, who also manage the Guardians of Eltar, making appearances via large energy tubes that display images of their heads. Additional Eltarian military forces, also under control of the Guardians of Eltar, include armored task forces, such as Sentry Force, which specializes in more aggressive combat, with each of its members referred to as Sentries, who are also not distinguished by colors or metals. Rather, Sentries use dark armor, and in place of the usual staffs that Guardians use, Sentries carry swords or utilize heavy machinery, such as mechs. Standard Eltarian soldiers wear light-colored armor with a single blade-like protrusion on the left side of their helmets, and carry spears. Eltarian architecture, at least for Guardian facilities, consist of gold temple-like buildings, with asymmetrical ornaments and other protrusions. Most Eltarian names begin with the letter "Z." In addition, Eltarians appear to run a thriving and well-known textile industry, making fine silks valued by wealthy aliens.
Technology[]
Eltarians possess highly advanced technology, the most notable being their Guardian technology, which take the form of full body armored exosuits of varying colors and design, matching the metal designation of a given Guardian, with the Supreme Guardian's armor being more ornate, bearing a cape, and also lacking a faceplate. Sentry Force utilizes the same technology as the Guardians, although with mostly identical color schemes and similar overall designs, and are able to be modified with additional Eltarian military technology, such as energy wings, enabling its wearer to fly. They also possess zord-like mech suits, which can be weaponized. Eltarian spacecraft have sleek, elaborate designs colored white and gold, with a visible viewport on their prow, which loosely resembles the beak of a bird.
Notes[]
- Power Rangers originally used footage of Mysterious Sage Barza, a character from Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger, as Zordon's physical appearance, originally giving Eltarians a Human-like appearance, as Mysterious Sage Barza was a Human.
