The Einherjar are a clone marine soldiers that humanity created to fight the Garm. Clone warriors that could be replenished on the battlefield to hold back the tide of the unrelenting extinction fleet.
Biology[]
The name Einherjar comes from the Nordic myth of Brave warriors who died in battle and brought to the afterlife known as Valhalla where they fight as warriors of the gods.
Biologically are no different from humans. However all soldiers in the Einherjar military are all equipped with a devices called a torc around their necks which acts as a transmitter for their brain waves. When an Einherjar dies the data recorded on the torc comprises the whole memories of the soldier, mapped and coded by the miracles of science.
These memories are then transmitted to a clone body produced by a Body Forge, producing a new soldier with the same memories of the previous deceased warrior. Though not everyone came out unscathed by the trauma of dying and reviving.
The horrors of continually fighting against the Garm for some Einherjar eventually led to becoming Blackouts. Signs of mental degradation usually manifested as dreams during the resurrection process.
Though not all humans could become Einherjars as they needed specific and yet highly classified criteria. Women oddly were unable to be forged into Einherjars as their bodies 100% of the time rejected the revival process. A theory for this is that females being able to create life, were innately unable to become unkillable warriors.
Culture[]
The Einherjar military borrow many aspect from the Norse culture. Given their near mythical ability to revive after death, they call on the the gods of the Norse, like the Odin for spiritual guidance.
After the development of the Einherjar, it was said that humanity had become more united, and that infighting had ceased, though human vices such as gambling, pleasure worlds continued.
Though that eventually ended after Skald Thatcher, taking on the name Loki, defected from the Einhherjar, and proceeded to lead a rogue element to successfully hijack the Garm hive mind, taking control. Having grown disgusted by humanity and the Garm's stalemate, Loki intended to wipe all life in the galaxy through an event known as Ragnorak.
Ranks and terms from Viking culture likewise are incorporated their military hierarchy.
- All-Father - The Einherjar military high command.
- Bloodhound - A special new Enherjar unit that could instinctively track down Garm alphas thanks to a special connection to the Hive Mind.
- Jarl - A command position in charge of a company of Einherjar. A jarl was to gather intelligence from the accounts of their attending company and push the report up to the Watchman.
- Skald, the recon and intelligence commandos from Taskforce Loki. They answered directly to Command.
- Watchman - A marine commander who was the master of Einherjar ground forces.
