The Eich are one of the leading races of Boskone. As natives of the frigid world Jarnevon, they are a species of "frigid-blooded poison-breathers," a type of life-form common on the coldest worlds of the First and Second Galaxies.

Description

Anatomy & Physiology

In order to survive the extreme cold of their homeworld, the Eich's bodies extend partially into higher spacial dimensions. Consequently, they have a constantly shifting, amorphous appearance, since only part of their bodies are intersecting with three-dimensional space at any given time. Among their few consistent features are numerous tendrils, amorphous central bodies, and beaked "heads." They have blue, vaguely reptilian skin. Eich are approximately the size of humans.

Biochemistry

The Eich's biochemistry is functional only at extremely low temperatures similar to those found on Pluto. They breathe an unnamed gas poisonous to aerobic life (possibly carbon monoxide). Additionally, the Eich find oxygen very poisonous.

Powers & Abilities

Every Eich that appears in the Lensman series has considerable psychic abilities, although it is unclear if this is a trait common to the species as a whole. Additionally, like Palainians, their higher-dimensional physiology likely grants them limited teleportation, although they are never shown to do this.

Technology

The Eich use inertialess spacecraft, much like other species in the Lensman universe, in order to achieve faster-than-light travel. They use "ultra-waves" for communication and laser beams as weapons. In addition to force screens designed to block physical attacks, they also have thought-screens for blocking mental penetration. Their most notable invention is probably the hyper-spatial tube, a device similar to a wormhole.
