Egros' species were an unnamed humanoid species that inhabited a world in the Black Galaxy, who were fused with a scientist named Egros after the surface of their world was destroyed by a supernova, with Egros becoming Ego the Living Planet.

Biology[]

Members of Egros' species were externally indiscernible from Humans, although their skin often appeared tinted gold, and their eyes had no visible pupils or irises.

Culture and society[]

Little is known of the society of Egros' species. Their males, at least those working as scientists, wore reflective blue jumpsuits with armor-like tunics, although their arms are left bare. In addition, they wear cylindrical helmets that leave their faces exposed, connected to their tunics via a neck brace. At some point in their past, they chose to stop pursuing space travel.

Technology[]

Egros' species possessed moderately advanced technology, capable of creating pods capable of keeping themselves in indefinite stasis and constructing bunkers within the core of their planet. Their bunkers were designed to protect them from the shockwave of a supernova, although they were ultimately unsuccessful, if only because they could not seal in time. Egros' species did not develop spacecraft capable of evacuating the population, although they did create space travel. Additional technology of this species included hoverboards capable of carrying a single passenger, and monitoring equipment capable of detecting stellar activity in real-time.

History[]

Eons ago, this species arose on a planet in the Black Galaxy. This species eventually developed space travel, but then chose to abandon further developments in that field. Eventually, a member of this species, Egros, was recognized across the planet for his genius, becoming the world's top scientific talent, and the population of Egros' species rose to two billion. However, a mysterious Gigantian known as The Stranger then arrived at Egros' home system, seeking to create a living world. Selecting Egros' planet as a suitable candidate, he manipulated the planet's star, starting the process of making it go nova. This was discovered by scientists of Egros' species, and Egros himself calculated how long they had until the blast, down to the exact millisecond. Determining that they had twenty months, Egros began Project Worldcore, a project of creating bunkers near the planet's core, which would hold the population in suspended animation until conditions were safe enough to leave, the location deep enough to survive the blast and radiation once the vaults were fully sealed.

Egros worked tirelessly alongside another scientist named Chimu, designing the suspended animation pods and doing everything he could to keep public faith in the project. While hailed as a hero, Egros' primary motivation was a simple desire to survive, and yet he voluntarily remained outside Project Worldcore until every other member of the species was safely underground. At the end of the twenty months, the entire population of the planet was in suspended animation, with only Egros and Chimu left on the surface, performing some final tasks before they would descend into their own pods and let the vaults automatically seal, wondering if they would emerge somehow wiser when the effects of the supernova passed. However, likely due to intervention by The Stranger, the star would go nova almost a minute ahead of schedule, with the readings picked up by Egros and Chimu. Realizing that the automatic systems would be too slow to seal the vaults, Chimu and Egros tried in vain to reach the vaults and manually seal them, the star exploding before they could reach the chambers. The radiation killed every member of Egros' species, except Egros himself, who had the minds of every living thing on the planet, from the plants and animals to the other two billion members of his species, merged into him, with his own mind absorbed into the planet itself, transforming Egros into Ego the Living Planet.

Notes[]

  • In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, better known as Earth-199999 in-universe, Egros' species does not exist, as Ego is instead a Celestial.
