Drifters are titanic, predatory, insect-like creatures known to prey on lone vehicles travelling through the desert. They burrow beneath the sand and wait until they feel the approach of a nearby car or truck, at which point they rear up out of the sand, often in groups, and spew gobs of corrosive goo at their target. These creatures are very tough to kill with out the help of heavy weaponry. Drifters have six eyes and four long legs.
