Dinobot

Dinobots are a subspecies of dinosaur-like Cybertronians from the planet Cybertron.

Biology[]

While also being a subgroup of Autobots and Maximals, Dinobots consider themselves a species unto themselves.

Anatomy[]

Dinobots share a similar biology to other Cybertronians, except they transform into robotic dinosaurs.

Dinobots share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronians.

Dinobots are dangerously strong compared to other types of Cybertronians.

Select Dinobots can combine to form a combiner known as Volcanicus.

Dinobots can appear as unintelligent when they are in their beast modes.

Dinobots are generally considered to be the mortal enemies of the Constructicons.

History[]

Primax Cluster[]

In the "Beast Era", the Dinobots are a group of Maximals created by the Oracle to aid in the battle against Megatron's Vehicons. By the time of their creation, the Maximal Dinobot's spark had already joined with the AllSpark. Dinobot's spark contained all the data gathered in his life, data that was available to the Oracle.

The Oracle reformatted a group of survivors of Beast Megatron's transformation virus and Vehicon hordes using dinosaur DNA information gathered from Dinobot's spark, giving them new technorganic bodies. The group is led by T-Wrecks, with Triceradon being his second-in-command. They were also joined by the spacefaring Predacon warrior Magmatron.

The "Dinobot" name has alternatively been used for an individual Maximal and former Predacon from the "Beast Era" who can transform into a Velociraptor.
In Transformers: Age of Extinction, the CGI model for Scorn's whip-like left arm (which also serves as his beast mode's tail) is reused for tentacled aliens imprisoned in cages throughout Lockdown's Knight Ship.
The Weaponizer Tricerashot considers himself to be a Dinobot because it may explain his inability to possess Grimlock using his powers.
Chompazoids were never regarded as Dinobots in the 2015 Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon. This detail was retroactively established in the Transformers: Rescue Bots Academy episode "Tyrannosaurus Wrecked".
