Dead End Drones (also known as Laser Pods) are a subspecies of Cybertronian Mini-Cons found on both Unicron and Gigantion.
Biology[]
Anatomy[]
Dead End Drones share a similar biology to other Cybertronian Mini-Cons, except they transform into hovering "moons" with large blasters.
Powers and abilities[]
Dead End Drones share many of the same abilities as other Cybertronian Mini-Cons.
Culture and society[]
Dead End Drones are non-sentient copies of an individual Mini-Con named Dead End created by Unicron, whose abilities allow him to coordinate thousands of these drones simultaneously. Technically speaking, these Mini-Cons functionally act as antibodies for Unicron.
At some later point, Galvatron would use schematics of Dead End recovered from Unicron's datatrax to manufacture his own army of Dead End Drones on Gigantion. These Gigantion-type Dead End Drones are "commanded" by marginally more sentient Dead End Generals, transmitting all data they receive straight to the Decepticon leader.[1]
According to Vector Prime, much overlap exists between the hard-coded design schematics of the Dead End Drones and Unicron's sleeper agents the Egg Beasts.
History[]
Aurex 802.23 Alpha[]
A plethora of Dead End Drones in globe form attacked the Decepticons invading Unicron's body. After destroying everyone else, they pursued Cyclonus and almost caused him to fall into a crevasse before he was saved by Demolishor. The drones kept firing until they were eventually destroyed by Autobots Hot Shot and Side Swipe. After momentary peace, a larger group of Dead End Drones came and surrounded the invaders only for most to get destroyed by Optimus Prime in his Jet Optimus form while the remaining drones retreated.
Aurex 503.01 Gamma[]
During Unicron's battle against the population of Cybertron, a number of Dead End Drones were seen defending him in both robot and globe forms. Several of them were cut in half by the Autobot Ravenus and his Mini-Con companion Twirl.
Aurex 402.24 Gamma[]
A Dead End-type Mini-Con was inside the core of Unicron; whether this was the original or one of his many clones is unclear.
Alternate history[]
Swindle, Swindle and Swindle had Dead End-type Mini-Cons among their drones in stock. One of the Swindles hinted that despite Unicronian technology being against Axiom Nexus law, he would still be willing to sell Dead End Drones for the right price.
