Dark Specter's species is an unnamed alien species of incredible power, whose only known member, Dark Specter, founded the United Alliance of Evil. It is possible that this species is extinct, with Dark Specter being its last remaining member.
Biology[]
Dark Specter's species are massive beings, bearing a humanoid build, but appearing to be made up of volcanic rock with lava-like lines running through their bodies rather than organic matter. Their heads appear somewhat reptilian in shape, with narrowed eyes and a short snout with sharp teeth, and two frill-like structures on either side of their head. Their hands bear only three clawed fingers, arranged as a clamp. Dark Specter, who bore incredible power of unknown potential, portrayed the ability to teleport, shapeshift, change his size, shoot fireballs from his mouth, project his image elsewhere, and travel through space, as well as being durable enough to survive a direct hit from a planet-destroying missile, but it is unknown if these abilities are exclusive to him or shared by other members of his species. They are sapient, and capable of speaking English. If their energies are drained, their durability and power will be weakened, and the lava-like lines on their bodies will appear blue. While their lifespan is unknown, Dark Specter chose Astronema as his heir, hinting at the possibility that his species has a finite lifespan. Whatever their lifespan is, they can live for at least several thousand years, as Dark Specter was known to be active thousands of years in the past, when the Eltarian Zordon still had an organic body and served as a Guardian of Eltar.
Culture and society[]
Almost nothing is known about the society of this species. Dark Specter, its only confirmed representative, was an evil being who sought to conquer the universe, forming an intergalactic empire known as the United Alliance of Evil to further his goals, which included destroying the Power Rangers, the guardians of the innocent and all that is good.
History[]
Dark Specter's species arose on Infernus. At an unknown point in time, likely in the very distant past, Dark Specter formed the United Alliance of Evil, reigning as the Grand Monarch of Evil in the war against the forces of good, and his name became feared by all, even his own agents. Thousands of years ago, he also hired an assassin to intercept the Guardians of Eltar on their quest to obtain the Zeo Crystal, hidden on Earth's moon by the M51 Galaxy humanoids. At another unknown point in time before 1869, Dark Specter corrupted a Xybrian named Trek, intent on using him as a way to access the Morphin Grid for his own goals. Trek was part of Xybria's Power Ranger team, known as the Supersonic Rangers, and Dark Specter corrupted Trek's thoughts with ideas that Trek was seen as worthless by his team. Trek soon followed Dark Specter's influence and killed his team, before traveling to Infernus, where Dark Specter corrupted his morpher and made Trek into the Psycho Green Ranger, the first of the Psycho Rangers. Trek would then serve as Dark Specter's right hand until 1869, when he was sent by Dark Specter to retrieve Rita Repulsa from her prison on Earth's moon. Trek was shot down by Zordon, a now-disembodied Eltarian wizard stationed on Earth with his Edenoite-built robot companion Alpha 5, buried on the Moon until 1969, when the US Moon Landing awoke him again. While he was found and defeated by the 1969 Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, he remained buried under the Moon's surface, still alive and sustained by both his corrupted connection to the Morphin Grid and Dark Specter's energy. Around 1984, Dark Specter hired an alien bounty hunter named Darkonda to go to a planet in the Karova System known as KO-35 and kidnap a young girl from the planet, named Karone. Karone was handed over to another one Dark Specter's agents, named Ecliptor, who trained her as an heir to Dark Specter, giving her the name Astronema. Dark Specter also had Darkonda kidnap other children as potential heirs, with Ecliptor pitting the children against each other to select a true heir. To aid in her path to villainy and prevent future threats, Dark Specter had Astronema's parents killed by Darkonda, and made Astronema believe the Power Rangers were responsible. Astronema defeated her competitors and was named heir to Dark Specter's throne. Around 1997, Dark Specter led an assault on Eltar, capturing Zordon along with the planet. Dark Specter then called all major members of the United Alliance of Evil together on the Cimmerian Planet, plotting on how to ensure the Power Rangers never free Zordon. When the members of the Alliance began fighting amongst themselves for the position of fighting the Rangers, Dark Specter chose Astronema to be the head of the operation, just before Andros, a KO-35 inhabitant and a Red Ranger, revealed himself in the midst of the meeting, posing as another Alliance member. He managed to escape, and Dark Specter sent Astronema to battle the new Ranger force, soon to be known as the Space Rangers.

Notes[]
- The costume for Dark Specter is the same costume used for Maligore, a supposedly unrelated demon in Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. Divatox lampshaded this by noting the similarities, and if Dark Specter and Maligore are related, then this could mean that Dark Specter's species is actually a demonic species. A proposed idea for the Power Rangers Wild Force episode "Forever Red" involved revealing that Dark Specter and Maligore were in fact members of the same species, but Maligore was a juvenile.
- If his species is extinct, it is possible that Dark Specter himself is what killed off its other members, possibly in a war for power.
