The Collectors were a race of magical god-like beings native to the stars of the Demon Realm.
Biology[]
Collectors are humanoids dressed in robes with iconography related to the day and night. They appear to have blue and yellow skin and glowing orange eyes. Collectors are immensely powerful beings, capable of warping reality, from levitation, transmutating beings, altering reality, moving celestial objects, conjuring objects etc. Though despite their god-like abilities Collectors are not without limits.
Among their weaknesses:
- Their magic can be nullified by Titans.
- Their powers have no sway within the Space In Between making it a natural prison for Collectors.
- Their power is unable to revive the dead.
History[]
In the ancient past, the Collectors watched over the worlds and stars of the Demon Realm. A long-lived race, their kind tasked themselves in observing the passing of time, observe and preserving all sorts of creatures so that they never fade. Hence their name of Collectors, though the action of collecting refers to capturing live beings withing magical scrolls to amass within their Archives. However should other beings meddle in their affairs the Collectors were said to annihilated the offending world.
Ages ago a young Collector proved to be a distraction to the older members of the species, known as the Archivists. In order to get their junior out of their way, they sent him to a primordial world where another god-like race known as the Titan dwelled, so that he could "play". Their sibling found happiness their among the Titans, finding joy in playing with their children, however when the Archivists discovered that the Titans had the ability to cancel out Collector magic, they grew fearful.
The Titans were deemed a threat and the Archivists launched a subtle campaign of genocide of the Titans, eliminating all Titans alike from the young to the adults, until one was left. The lone survivor furious about the disappearances of his kind blamed the Collector child, hiding his sole remaining egg and then dragging the Collector into the Space Between.
The act caused the Titan to meets its demise, trapping not just the Collector into space between worlds, but dooming his soul to spend eternity in limbo. It was only then did he see that the Collector was not to blame but his siblings were responsible.
What happened to the other Collectors is unknown, but it is believed as life developed in the Demon Realm and new species of demons were born, the Collectors maintained a sporadic presence, capturing rare magical beasts for their collection. Contact with the forerunning demonic species occurred, some even worshipping the Collectors, believing them to be gods and in awe of them wiping out the Titans. The groups that formed were the Titan Trappers who mimicked the actions of the Collectors in hunting down any Titan infants.
