The Chosen are three individuals belonging to an unknown species who served as the Ethereals' enforcers during the ADVENT occupation of Earth.
Little is known about the Chosen, other than their purpose of exterminating those who would challenge the Ethereals, their unique individual talents and skills and their evident disdain for one another. Their origins are subject to widespread speculation, from being an outright creation of the Ethereals, to even being former humans subjected to horrific experimentation. Whether the three are all there is of their kind or if there are others beyond Earth remains unknown.
The Chosen are equipped with the finest weapons and armour the Ethereals can afford their servants, and operate as leaders to Earth's occupying forces. However, they also demonstrate an outright hatred for each other, having been documented threatening each other, enjoying the prospect of their rivals' pain and death, and their shared acknowledgement that the Ethereals would not risk deploying them all at once without good reason. To ensure their long-term usefulness, each Chosen is granted a personal fortress containing a psionic conduit designed to resurrect the Chosen after suffering fatal injury. So long as these conduits remain functional, the Chosen are effectively immortal. The three Chosen are known as the Assassin, the Hunter and the Warlock respectively.
Assassin[]
Chosen Assassin
The Assassin specialises in stealth and hit and run tactics. She is armed with a sword and energy shotgun, as well as blinding grenades and a cloaking device. She is tasked with the extermination of any Hybrid clones who defect from ADVENT's ranks. In terms of personality, she demonstrates a notable consideration for honour, demonstrating disdain for traitors and some degree of respect for XCOM. She is seen spending her free time meditating.
Hunter[]
Chosen Hunter
The Hunter is a long range specialist, utilising a sniper rifle to eliminate his enemies from afar. He also equips a grappling hook to reach new vantage points and will often use his underlings to distract his prey. He is considered a rival of the Human resistance faction known as Reapers, whose methods and tactics are noticeably similar to his own. Of all the Chosen, he is the most outwardly humorous, teasing the others and mocking his targets. He also seems to be surprisingly insubordinate, blatantly disrespecting the Ethereals, implying something of a resentment for his masters.
Warlock[]
Chosen Warlock
Evidently the eldest of the Chosen, the Warlock carries an automatic energy rifle, but is primarily reliant on his immense psionic powers. He is charged with eliminating the psionic Humans known as the Templars, a task he is well suited for with his talents in manipulating and controlling his enemies and manifesting minions of psionic energy. He is evidently the most loyal of all the Chosen, as he consistently demonstrates a religious reverence for the Ethereals and derides XCOM and their allies as heretics and infidels.
