Alien Species

The Children of Tsathoggua, a.k.a. Scions of Tsathoggua, are a species of large, flying creatures spawned by the Great Old One known as Tsathoggua, who brought them to Earth with him.

They are known to act as guardians to certain locations, such as the Temple of the Toad in Honduras.

Biology[]

The Children of Tsathoggua are giant creatures with wings, tentacles and mastodonic hooves. Their bodies are malleable enough to allow them to squeeze through windows, and they are strong enough to crush a man's skull with a single hoof.

Appearances[]

  • "The Thing on the Roof", by Robert E. Howard (1932)

Notes[]

  • The creature in Howard's story is not identified as a member of this species, neither is Tsathoggua mentioned. Instead, the identification originates from the role-playing game Call of Cthulhu.
  • The monster from Howard's "The Fire of Asshurbanipal" might also be a member of this species, as it is described as a massive toad-like creature with wings and tentacles, and also acted as guardian of a gemstone. The only difference is that its feet are described as "taloned" rather than hoofed.
