The Tailheads, a.k.a. Chandir, are a species of sapient spacefaring humanoids most readily recognizable by their heads, which extend backwards into a long trunk-like projection, therefore their nickname. These beings have brown skin, pointed ears and numerous horizontal folds running from the neck over their faces and most of the head "tail". While members of this species have been often seen on Deep Space 9, they have also been observed halfway across the galaxy, in the distant Delta Quadrant, as one of the many spectators to the Tsunkatse combats on the Norcadian homeworld.

- "Tailheads" is a production nickname conceived by makeup designer Michael Westmore. The name Chandir comes from the non-canon Star Trek: Titan series of novels. The species has never received a proper name in canon.
