Regressed Species

This category refers to any species that at one point in their history, achieved great technological development or ability. However, they have been de-evolved or regressed socially, which can range from simply losing major technological or societal advancements to being pushed to a primitive state, backwards by the standards of Humans or other advanced species. This can be the result of some cataclysmic event, or advancements could have willingly been abandoned in favor of an ideology or other goal, although the latter is less common.
